I hate when that happens. I will check and see if I have one from an engine I stripped. Not sure if I salvaged that part or not as it was years ago but I shall look. If I do its yours for the cost of shipping.2 points

This very true. I have had helmets were the buffeting varied from helmet to helmet. One was so severe that I had a sore neck and returned the Helmet the next day (fortunately it was one of those bike shops that would refund your helmet if not satisfied and not damaged or marked ) and I have helmets that resulted in no buffeting at all. All while riding with a cut down windshield.2 points

Folks, in spite of us having an area specifically designated for posting classifieds, people continue to post them in the Watering hole and other areas of the forum. I have addressed this issue many times in the past and am going to address it this one last time. Maybe people would prefer that we have NO other areas. Just remove them all and just have the Watering Hole? It would make it hard to find things but that seems to be where everybody wishes to post it all anyway. There are several reasons why anything for sale should NOT be place anyplace except the classifieds or at the very least, the forum "Links to Classifieds, Ebay, Craigslist and etc." The first reason is that the posts there automatically delete themselves after a predetermined length of time. That prevents me or the other moderators from going through the Watering Hole or other areas and manually deleting posts for items and etc. on Ebay that are long expired. The second reason is because the members here, NOT me, decided long ago that they wanted our classifieds open to post only from supporting members. The consensus was that you didn't want strangers that have never participated here joining up as trial members when the only intention they have is to try and sell something. You wanted the ads to be from people that are supporting members here that you know and trust. That was YOUR decision. If you have changed your mind just let me know and I'll open the classifies to everybody. It somewhat defeats the purpose of making the classifieds read only if people are allowed to post their for sale items anywhere they want to. Your ads should be posted in the Classifieds. When you post them there a post is automatically created in the "Links to Classifieds" forum so you are also automatically posting it to the forum. There is not reason to then ALSO post a message in the watering hole or anywhere else that "hey...I just place my bike in the classifieds"..... So, for several years now I have asked several times that you stop posting ads where they shouldn't be. I have deleted a very few that were posted but the vast majority of the time, I take the time to manually move it to the correct place and just keep quite about it. It especially bothers me to delete an ad that I can tell a lot of time went into creating so once again I will take the time to move it to the correct place and let it go. So no more mister nice guy. Any ad that I see posted in the Watering Hole or any of the other forums will be deleted as soon as I see it. Regardless of the effort that was put in creating the ad, I am deleting it. This will make a few people mad. I'm sorry about that but this has been discussed many times.1 point

Hi all. I am always searching for motorcycle products to review and I came across an awesome one. Take that "emergency" $100 bill out of your wallet and get ready to use it. Even my brother @cowpuc isn't fond of laying down on his back to check the tire pressure on Tweeks. I know I don't look forward to doing it, especially if I have 'nice' clothes on. This is a bluetooth remote tire pressure monitoring system where you see your tire pressure on your phone. Of course you get warnings of leaks, but the real value in my estimation is the weekly check before your Saturday ride or the concern while on the road that some punk let some air out of your tires at the motel.... I hope this is a good read for you. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/07/21/fobo-bike-2-review-motorcycle-tire-pressure-monitoring-system/ VentureFar...1 point

Mine does not have class. Yes, a Schrader valve on a bracket mounted to handlebars, right next to key. Best to use a hand pump. I only run a couple psi in my fronts (with progressive shocks) helps keep pressure on the seals.1 point

If it does not have the CLASS system(compressor and controler) then the front suspension has a schrader fitting on steering head next to the ignition lock. DO NOT USE AN AIR COMPRESSOR TO ADJUST FRONT SUSPENSION!!!!! The rear suspension has a schrader fitting and a damping adjustment knob below the seat on the left side to the rear of the side cover.1 point

Home depot sells a carbon fiber pad that plumbers use to prevent heating stuff that does not want to be heated (except your fingers your on your own there). It has been a life saver for me on many occasions1 point

Also, check with your local Yamaha Dealer. My local can usually get me any parts still available through Yamaha in a day or two.1 point

Definitely a plug patch is the way to go but if the entry is too steep of an angle than plug 1st buff flat on the inside and then place the proper patch.1 point

I agree, I like the plug and patch route. I'll be posting updates and developments of the repair as soon as I make up my mind what to do with the tire repair. Thank You All for your guidance!1 point

@SpencerPJ I like your suggestion on plugging the hole for now. I do have a plug kit that I bought over a year ago. This rear tire still has good tread and only has a little over 7K miles. I really hate throwing it away. One good advantage on the SVTC is that it gives us real time tire pressure monitoring...I just have to remember to always take along the portable air pump. The other option is to simply replace the tire and be done with it. This is my dilemma.1 point

Recently, the tire industry has new guidelines on auto tire repairs. A patch is no longer the go to. Instead they say a "plug patch" is what needs to be done. Now whether that goes for motorcycle tires to IDK. The reasoning behind is to keep as mentioned "crap" out and not corrode the steel belts. But we are in a different construction with fabric belts. A plug is not acceptable in auto industry, but I like many have drove many a mile on plugged tires, same on a bike. But I prefer a patch for sure.1 point

Might not be a popular response, but a few years ago, I simply plugged mine old school style, kit from Walmart, and it worked fine. Not like it's going to blow up, it would just leak air slowly. Taking and having a professional patch put in is better.1 point

No chain there. First thing I would look at is the bottom bolt has a crush washer on it to seal. If he had that cover off and didn’t put that washer on you’ll get a leak there.1 point
-
Sounds very suspicious to me. I seriously doubt that a chain coming off caused the issue. What chain is he talking about? I suspect that he screwed something up.1 point

Trust me inexperience does not necessarily hold the monopoly on overthinking. Sometimes experience because you know what can go wrong can have you humming and hawing more so than a rookie.1 point

I've been running these since 2015 and have loved them. The set I have is the first generation which is no longer available, I have not felt the need to upgrade to the new FOBO Bike 2. The battery life leaves a little to be desired, I change them in the spring, and then again halfway through the riding season, but other than that I think this is excellent technology and a great investment for the price.1 point

No. You do not need to remove the tire to install them. Just the plastic valve stem cap. That’s all. they suggest that you have METAL valve stems and actually put two in the box. But not required. VentureFar...1 point

I agree yet disagree Telling your friends about a deal on something is quite different than posting his unwanted items on OUR site. Doesn't monetary responsibility come into play at all - I pay my dues for the use of this forum, a non-paying 'friend' has no business advertising here.1 point

Fellow members. I think a tour of duty as a moderator or admin would make it more clear. Seriously. Just go with the program. Enjoy the site follow the rules. And you will have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Its better that way. Don is clearly not pointing out one person. But the act itself. It's obviously creating a lot of extra work. Unnecessarily. Now I wonder can I GIVE stuff away in the watering hole? Just kidding big guy!1 point

So I drained the oil while I’m waiting on parts. I’m posting a picture of where I see it leaking. I ordered the whole gasket for the cover but later found out there is a crush ring on the bottom bolt so I ordered that last night. I looked it up on partszilla site they call it a gasket not a washer so hope I got what I need. Hard to see but the oil is on that bottom edge of the middle cover on left side.0 points
