Thx, @RDawson. I don’t have a welder and most who have read any of my posts would probably breathe a sigh of relief! Lord only knows what kinds of problems I’d create with a welder in my hands!!!2 points

I am originally from California and lane split on the freeway on my venture anytime the traffics was slowing down to around 45 or less. Especially stop and go traffic. Because cagers in California grew up with motorcycles splitting lanes is is not only accepted practice but many times assisted by giving more room. My wife and I would go to Santa Barbara on 101 and since it was always stop and go during the summer, the cages would literally move to their left and right and open a huge lane for the strings of motorcycles going by. It was only the occasional inattentive driver that would hug the inside of their lane or a Dick 20 something in a convertible BMW with 4 of his male friends blocking on purpose. I live in Oregon now. When the bill was close to passage I posted a thread on Nextdoor. Believe me, you don’t want to lane filter in Oregon. They openly threatened to open doors, block lanes etc. the common EGO response was “ they should have to wait in line like the rest of us”. FYI I never clipped a mirror in all the years of splitting. Although I found myself not breathing as I slide between the cages, I felt safer than getting rear ended. VentureFar…1 point

Yeah, bikes with saddlebags are wider than you think. I would be afraid to do it on my Venture but the Kawasaki, I would do it if the cars are stopped.1 point

I opted to use a Bluetooth 12v receiver. It’s inside the fairing and comes on with the key. It plugged into the aux plug in there. I took out the tape deck and put charge ports there. I use iPhone so I’d need adapters to be able to charge and use aux plug at the same time. Several options out there.1 point

I too went with a wire. BUT, I added a "Y" connector under the front fairing that splits the Aux input into 2 sources. I then added XM radio and Garmin gps. The gps had an sd card slot. I loaded that with a couple of thousand oldies from my collection. So now I have radio, tape deck, XM and the gps all available to listen to.1 point

Did he maybe use the bottom screw on the middle gear cover to completely drain the oil from the gear-case and then forget to put in a sealing washer?1 point

Sounds very suspicious to me. I seriously doubt that a chain coming off caused the issue. What chain is he talking about? I suspect that he screwed something up.1 point

I like the windshield height to be just tall enough so that if I sit up straight I see over the top edge of it .. I have found that if you paint or tint the lower half of the windshield it will help to stop the head light glare from the head lights caused by oncoming cars at night The led lights on the new cars seem to present a larger problem or maybe what they need is a proper alignment I make my own using Lexan1 point

If you decide to replace the line going from right side to left, so from the fuel shutoff to the pump, it is a formed line and there is a special protector on the seam of the bottom of the tank that protects the line from being cut. The seam comes too close to miss the line entirely so a protection clip is added to the seam. Make sure that it matches up, or you will have a gas leak in 30 miles or less. I think it's part number 26H-24188-00-001 point

I don't recommend it. This pic is of my bike right after I bought it. The previous owner put the shorty on it. The buffeting was so bad at highway speeds that it literally made my eyeballs vibrate and gave me a horrendous headache on the 1,000 mile trip we took. When we got back I couldn't get that windshield replaced fast enough!1 point

I had planned on BlueTooth upgrade but I found just running a short aux audio cable works just fine to connect my Galaxy. Not quite as convenient but a lot cheaper and easier on the front end. This phone mount works perfectly and is solid as a rock. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B088FNVGWP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=11 point

Not sure if you plan to use the CB system or not, but I completely removed my stereo system and installed a blue-tooth amp. Here is the link to a discussion about it. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/topic/69258-2009-venture-stereo/?tab=comments#comment-795494 Ron1 point

As far a training or teaching your kids, our policy was: We had no idea what life would hold for them, what kind of skills or mental makeup would be needed, for we had no handle on how the world would change during our or their lifetime. So we taught them to be kind, considerate, loving, caring and benevolent..... We tried to show them that there was lots more to life than just making money, but above all to realize that the only way to a much better and a truly perfect life would be to get to a place called Heaven, a place of eternal rest and peace. For that to happen they needed to realize they couldn't in no way do it on their own, but needed a Savior, and there is only One. They have all taken that to heart.1 point

Im trying hard to instill good values in my kids. Have to admit somedays i wonder if im gaining ground or losing ground but still if they love God and learn the value of working hard and treating others the way they themselves would like to be treated and enjoying time out on the lake when the work is done id say mission accomplished1 point

Ok I am assuming when you say yellow/blue you really mean blue/yellow (Ly) and when you say black/blue you really mean blue/black (LB) With wiring were there are two colors the wire color comes first and the color of the strip on that wire comes second Ly would be blue wire with yellow strip. LB would be blue wire with black strip.1 point

Venturerider Brothers and Sisters where has the time gone. It’s been almost 4 years since my original post. The 2000 miles I mentioned became 35,000 miles and my original repair finally failed last fall just prior to a trip to Southern Virginia. It failed again during the trip. I have had 3 premature failures that I know of. My shock and one of our members were repaired and had failed at about the same time. I had increased the fluid refill in both from 125ml to 150ml. That may have been the issue and I haven’t done that again. The other was a pinched O ring. To date I have replaced the O ring in about 70 RSV shocks with a very good success rate. I have documented the process and designed a simple tool to extend the shock to expose the O ring. If anyone would like this info send me a PM. Thanks to all who have supported me in my efforts especially DaNetFlunky and Rbig1 for donating their failed shocks to stock the initial exchange program. I have a third exchange unit and for the life of me I can’t remember who donated it but thank you also. Ride safe and ride smooth! Fitz1 point
