  1. As a relative newcomer here, and someone who is new to working on motorcycles, the way I was not only accepted but encouraged and taught is unheard of on the internet, in my experience. I quickly learned to shun social media and do not regularly share my life experiences online other than through communications to friends and family - which grew immensely upon joining this group. God Bless all of you and your families!

  2. Last years lakeshore flooding created the PERFECT opportunity for off trail adVenture... While I did take the loving husband approach to walking Tips E-Bike over the cave ins she did do an amazing job riding the single track off trail dirt path thru the weeds that we followed to get around over 2 miles of unrideable bike trail on this adventure.. SOOOO MUCH FUN!! GET OUT AND RIDE!!

  3. What do you guys use for highway peg mounts? I have tried a couple of things but can't seem to get them to stay in one place. I have used the spacers and even got gorilla tape to try to get them to stick. Didn't work.

  4. I have removed 65 lbs from the 83 , and the balance / lean weight is much better ...When standing beside the bike .I can grab the handle bars with one hand and pull the bike 14 inches past center and push it back with one hand on the handle bars easily . ..I will be replace the one battery with 2 smaller ones at the rear of the bike in aluminum battery boxes down in front of the saddle bags .Most of the remaining weight is below the level of the seat .. I have lowered the bike 1 1/2 inches

  6. That's why after years of experience I have come up with a series of steps to simplify conversions: A: Stop planning or thinking ( the second part of this step has gotten easier for me over the years ) B: Should step "A" not proceed as intended sit and drink a few beers ( as many as it takes ) until you get back on track with "A" C; Sit Back and let others do the conversions ( I find it produces less headaches ) this step may require a beer or 2 or ...... to make it more effective. D: This step is optional: While in step "C" Criticize heavily and don't forget to wear your couch potatoes badge to lend an air of officialness. (any shyness here can be overcome with the assistance of a few beers taken as needed) BTW would love to see some side picks.

  8. There is a metal core in the boot. Check for leaks. I would not replace them, unless the appearance bothers you.

  10. Thanks so much for all your prayers. Im still in thunderbay hospital and still am numb from the chest down but today was my first official physo appointment and i think things went well. Im finding that my left knee is weak as jello and unless i can see my feet i really dont know where they are while standing. Talk about new experences! But God has been good to me. Hes allowed my wife to visit for four whole days when they originally told us a max of 2 hours once period due to covid restrictions. Found out my surgeon is a believer as well and was encouraging prayer to his patients. Met a retired teacher who underwent disc replacement in his neck and had many late night talks when pain kept us awake and was able to pray with him. So even in the midst of something that has left me asking God why? Ive seen his hand at work and i am humbled. Praise his name

  12. Recent technical events made me think of keeping a ride journal / logbook / diary. A brother of mine has always done this with surfing outings, it seemed silly to me years ago when we were younger but looking back it has more than one time put the pieces of a trip together we couldn’t quite recall, and put a smile on our faces. Anyway I was thinking it could help with technical issues in the future as well as serve as a written memory of each ride. Maybe just a five minute routine of jotting time/date, location, weather, whom with, anomalies…etc. Just wondering if anyone else does this and what they include. It wouldn’t be digital for my initial thought, a leather bound book to keep in the saddlebags.

  15. An easier way to test for the voltage drop. Attach the positive voltmeter lead to the battery positive. Use the negative lead to probe each connection as you follow the power from the battery positive on out. This way the meter will read the actual voltage drop so you do not have to do all the math. a reading of zero is perfect but not realistic. Wire has resistance and every connection will have some resistance, resistance causes voltage drop, the goal is to have the lowest number possible. As you move out from the battery and find a connection that has a big voltage drop, fix it and then continue on.

  16. Pretty cool idea! I just finished a 9-day trip and took some pictures along the way for memories, but there was much more to the trip than what was captured in photos.
