I don't think there was a way that India could have had a different result with the number of people, the healthcare and the range of levels of poverty. I contributed something through the British Red Cross the other day, but really they need access to vaccines and international help - as will other countries in similar conditions. I'll be getting my second jab next week and it's good for me to feel "I'm all right", but India needs help producing enough of its own as well.2 points

I’ve been kicking around the idea of hosting a get together for a couple years, the hold up is there aren’t many members in the area. I’m posting the idea to try to gauge interest in the idea. NSA Joe n Debbie came in to Hannigans this week and we rode some and kicked the idea around. I’m looking at Kenlake State Park on KY Lake, the largest man made lake in the Eastern US. Plenty of camping, cabins, lodge onsite, and nearby accommodations. Just across the bridge is Land Between the Lakes national wildlife refuge and good riding. There is also lodging in nearby Aurora with motels and fishing cabins for lower priced rooms. 5-10 minutes away. Timing would probably be late May or early June to beat the heat and humidity of summer here. Please give me some feedback to see if we can get enough people to make it a go. Kenlake is a 20 minute ride from Murray with stores, supplies, etc.1 point

One thing's for sure; it's WAY too early for ZION!!! As in MONTHS! And Zion simply cannot be missed - nor any of the other nearby areas!!! Stunningly gorgeous scenery in that area!!~ Rgds, WRIDR1 point

Sorry, had to look that word up to make sure sure it means the same here as in little Texas. Vernacular: of, relating to, or being the normal spoken form of a language. Thanks, I knew we had it right!!😜1 point

It sure is tough to read of these happenings. There seem to be good stories coming out about how the Covid thing is being beaten and held back, and others about how Covid seems to be raging ahead, but none as bad as India so far. Slowly the our general population is starting to come to realize the need in India. They are humans, created in the image of their Creator, and we need to show them our love. It's not always easy to love someone or somebody, especially if they live a totally different life than we do, but we need to do it, if for no other reason than that we are very well blessed. In the process of helping them in this life, we might also be able to guide them to a new life beyond this one, where there is no more pain or suffering. What a blessing that would be!!1 point

This is for 2022. School ends late May so the first weekend in June is what I’m thinking if it doesn’t mess you up for MD. I plan to make it to MD too. Late June, July, and August here are very hot and humid so they’re out.1 point

Make the plans and God willing, I will show up. I am so looking forward to getting back in the groove of riding and socializing with other riders.1 point

Sounds like fun. I'll give it an early yes. Been in the area before and wouldn't mind going back. Not to far from there this weekend, we're in Paris, TN helping B2Dad celebrate his 75th birthday this weekend.1 point

I ride almost 800 miles to the WNY rally, 550 to Freebird’s, and trying to fit Vogel in my schedule at 350 miles. I don’t know how many can/will travel this far. If we can get the turnout it can be anything from an MD type thing at my place to a rally. Lots of good riding here for short rides or long, we can plan a tour of the Hannigan factory, or just sit around and eat and tell stories (assuming the border is open). TN highway 232 (West TN Dragon) is 30 minutes away. Ky lake is well known for bass and crappie fishing, 20-30lb catfish caught regularly with occasional up to 80 lb. May/June cats are biting from the bank. Civil war fort and history nearby.1 point

We have had a saying here at VRO, plan it, and they will come. Give plenty of notice on the date so folks can work their schedules. If 1 other rider shows up, it's a success 👍1 point

I would check weather of course because I have my doubts this would be doable right now but I would suggest Zion NP across to the North Rim then around to Page AZ and up/over the great divide thru Pagosa Springs CO = GORGEOUS ride and amazingly endless camping second to none.. Vid below is a 5 mile journey back into the mountains of Utah on that ride,, unspeakably amazing.. Thing is though,, that area/trip is probably under 40 feet of snow right now LOL.. Second choice in an effort to stay warm and dry would be drop down to Needles from Vegas and zig zag across those AWESOME desert lands where @videoarizona hangs out and take it the sheer endless beauty and ride/camp opportunities out there!! If you do that though, check your tires and keep an eye on them cause that desert heat will peel rubber off and your tires will end up on your as rubber dust on your saddle bags.. Another thought? Big Bend is unforgettable!! Slide down there and give @Squidley and @bikerjohn a hard time while your out that way... Dont miss Jerome AZ if you do that and 89A up to Flag while your at it... I was always warned to watch out for Rattlesnakes on the 100's of thousands of miles and multiple tent camping trips I made that way but never ever did get to see one.. My advice,,, as crazy as this may sound is to watch out for Goat head pickers when looking for a spot to drop your tent and/or off roading.. Those suckers are far more dangerous than any rattler I ever met and wayyyy more plentiful LOL1 point

What I found to be the most productive in improving the brakes was replacing all the rubber lines with steel braided hoses. I found on my 89 VR a number of years ago that when I applied the brakes or clutch, I would have my hand wrapped around the line and could fill it expand as pressure was applied. I went ahead and replaced all the lines, rebuilt the master cylinders, calipers, and clutch slave and found that my brakes improved and if I wanted to, I could lock up the front wheel in a panic stop. I have no de-linked my brakes or have I upgraded to the R1/R6 calipers and have no plans to do so at this time. In my opinion, getting the pressure to the calipers is the key in getting a reliable braking system that will stop you when needed. There are a number of vendors that offer complete kits for the Ventures to upgrade the lines and I would strongly suggest doing that first along with the rebuild of the other components. The video is pretty good but I think there are a couple ways to improve what he's doing: 1) I don't like having the ratchet near the motorcycle. I use tie down extension straps on the bike and run the ratchet strap from the extension to the trailer, with the buckle at the trailer end. This is the kind of extension strap I mean: 2) He's got excess strap tied off near the motorcycle. That could flap in the wind and damage paint. Tie the excess off down at the trailer. One more thing, tie down the rear even if it's a single strap through the wheel. If you're in a collision you don't need the motorcycle somersaulting onto the tow vehicle.1 point
