  1. Hello Venture Riders. I am Steve Stewart and was a Venture Rider until april of 2011 when I had a wreck that totaled my 04 Venture. After I recovered from the accident I did not get back into riding. It was my second accident that involved head injuries and I decided I didn't want to run the risk of another. Also I have 2 sisters that are RNs and they stated if I ever got on another motorcycle they would strip the meat off my bones with tweezers before they boiled them. So for the last 10 years I have suffered life without a motocycle. Several things have changed in my life and I have bought a 2010 RSV that I am going to pick up Monday. I hope to be outfitted with good gear and back on the road in a couple of weeks. And NO, I haven't told my sisters yet. One I will not tell because she is in Hospice care and the other I will tell soon. I pray she will understand that my passion for riding is worth the risk of an accident. I am looking forward to riding and meeting some of the Venture Riders again. I made it to a campout back in 09 or 10 that I remember very well. Maybe another one can happen after the Covid wears down. My thanks to Freebird for keeping this site open and going. Steve Stewart

  2. I finally got my SVTC back. Shop said they could not replicate what I have observed 'stalling'. I even sent them a video of the incident as I tried to do it from the garage before I got it towed and it never acted back up again. This morning, I went to pick it up and rode it back home for at least 20 miles with no problems at all. I was told to simply keep an eye on the situation, because the shop could not replace anything under warranty unless the bike part is not functioning at all. As a consolation, they were able to replace my brake switch as part of the recall. Ride On folks and keep the shiny side up.

  5. @cowpucI have only swapped out tires on the 1st gens. On my MK 2 did not have to remove the saddle bags but I did have to remove the right side exhaust pipe so the axle bolt would come out. Now to be clear I don't have OEM exhaust pipes and so not sure if that would still be required with the OEM pipes (guess I could look at my bike and see since I just replace my aftermarket pipes with OEM pipes last week. As far as removing the bags if you want to it is possible to remove the bags bumper and rear reflector in one piece. each bag has two bolts in the bottom and two in the top of the inside wall. Once all eight bolts are removed and you removed the signal light bulb and socket from below you can carefully lift the entire assembly off in one piece. It can be a little tricky getting it to slide past the license plate holder as the mounting rubbers catch it if you do not remove them. Now having said all that for myself after having done it a few times, and for the little extra work (about 5 minutes), I find it less cumbersome to remove the reflector (one nut on the inside of each saddlebag ) and the center bumper section ( two sheet metal screws on each end ) and remove the saddle bags separately as well as making them easier to handle putting them back on (bumper ends and signal light housing can stay attached to the bags just remove the light sockets from underneath. the whole job takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Also the few minutes you save by not removing the extra pieces can be quickly used up struggling with double bags both removing and putting back on.

  10. Sorry life happened and everything took a back seat. Remember this was assembled as a Hobie 16 trailer so the tongue is exceptionally long. It measures 8ā€™ total, 2ā€™ of which are inserted into the A frame up to the first cross member. The axle and fender placement are fully adjustable the springs are mounted to a bracket and you just choose which holes you want. hope to get back to it tomorrow. Thanks for the tips, will keep you posted. Initial front to back rail measurements after bending are dead even.

  12. I spent many years hauling with trucks ranging form 3/4 ton up the full sized 18 wheeler ..When you extend the rear of truck past the rear axle and put 800 lb plus weight on it , be careful ...That load will swing wide on a corner and will your vehicle support the weight at the mounting point .....I don't know all the regulations in the USA , but here in Manitoba that would be a serious highway traffic violation .. The D.O.T ( department of transport ) guys are driving the highways doing spot checks ..The ruling on this has plenty of fine print and I do know because I have been stopped by the transport guys and any infraction will land you a big fine....I still keep a light duty trailer handy for load under 3000 lbs

  13. Just bend the tongue slightly to the bent side of the trailer that will square the ball up to axle plus make the trailer easier to see out the left hand mirror.
