  4. I would check weather of course because I have my doubts this would be doable right now but I would suggest Zion NP across to the North Rim then around to Page AZ and up/over the great divide thru Pagosa Springs CO = GORGEOUS ride and amazingly endless camping second to none.. Vid below is a 5 mile journey back into the mountains of Utah on that ride,, unspeakably amazing.. Thing is though,, that area/trip is probably under 40 feet of snow right now LOL.. Second choice in an effort to stay warm and dry would be drop down to Needles from Vegas and zig zag across those AWESOME desert lands where @videoarizona hangs out and take it the sheer endless beauty and ride/camp opportunities out there!! If you do that though, check your tires and keep an eye on them cause that desert heat will peel rubber off and your tires will end up on your as rubber dust on your saddle bags.. Another thought? Big Bend is unforgettable!! Slide down there and give @Squidley and @bikerjohn a hard time while your out that way... Dont miss Jerome AZ if you do that and 89A up to Flag while your at it... I was always warned to watch out for Rattlesnakes on the 100's of thousands of miles and multiple tent camping trips I made that way but never ever did get to see one.. My advice,,, as crazy as this may sound is to watch out for Goat head pickers when looking for a spot to drop your tent and/or off roading.. Those suckers are far more dangerous than any rattler I ever met and wayyyy more plentiful LOL

  6. I emailed progressive requesting instructions for the 1st gen fork spring install and here is the latest version which they sent me two days ago. I only glanced over it but it does not seem to vary much from the the version Bob K. posted Instruction Sheet Part #3055 Rev. G.pdf

  7. What's neat about the 4 carb setup is that you take one apart and then you can put it back together as you 'destroy' the next one. Before you do though, maybe get some carb cleaner, remove the needles and inject the cleaner into the now open port. Keep in mind that there are 2 openings in that port, one goes directly into the throat and is fed by one opening off the side of the port, Somehow both need to be cleaned. Inject the cleaner, wait a while and then shoot again and again. Give it about 2 hrs to complete. Then shoot it with a shot of air to complete. Put the needles back in til they gently stop, back out 2 turns and then reset at 900 rpm to highest vacuum. Each needle has a teeny tiny washer next tot eh spring and an even smaller o-ring. Don't loose them.

  8. Make sure you measure the frame after you get it straight, bet the one side will be a bit longer than the other, so you'll have to compensate with mounting the axle of it will fishtail on yah.

  9. Yep, I would say that your rebuilt carbs were not so rebuilt as one would have thought you to believe. If me was closer, then we'd get 'er done. Now if you move to Ontario and enjoy life..............

  11. Wow. 45 days is really too long to be waiting for a bike to get done. I hope yours is not going to take much longer. As for my SVTC, I expect to get a call from the shop by Monday to tell me what they find out. They said since the bike is already in the shop, they can also do the brake switch recall at the same time. The weather should be perfect riding days next week. At least I still have my very reliable '07 RSV and she'll keep me company all week long. I'll keep you guys posted.

  12. Big Bend is a cool place to stop and see. The Marfa lights are cool as well. You can take the river road through Del Rio and watch Mexico go by on the other side of the river. If you get over by Houston let me know, always room for a VR brother.

  14. New stator, stator gasket, forward bevel gear gasket, oil filter, fresh 15/40 dino oil, hard wired stator, new battery, new tie wraps holding side covers on, rear tire @ 45 psi, front tire @ 42 psi, checked brakes for stick calipers, toggled kill switch to fill the bowls, choke on, hit starter,, moved choke to half choke when she fired up to keep from blackening plugs while I walked inside to tell Tip I was going for a test ride. Volt gauge bounced right up to 14.5 volts when touching throttle. Was greeted with pure V-4 torque when nailing throttle in 5th gear at 35 mph and ran solid up to 90 like a good running V-4 should. No hesitations or misses, just pure V-4 elegance from bottom to top. Headed to HD shop on this, Tweeks maiden April 24, 2021 spring test ride to see if any of my HD riding buddies were out braving the cold. Tweeks was greeted with the usual WOWZY WOW WOW - now THAT is a touring bike.. Lots of admirers as I admired the gorgeous 20 or 30 HD's sitting in the lot. Felt sooooo good to be back in the saddle, indescribably delicious to say the least.. Summer cant get here soon enough IMHO...

  15. You won't likely see much change in the RPM. You need to hook up the vacuum gauges and check the vacuum at idle, 900 rpm.

  16. Nice to have those gauges. You can use them to adjust your needle valves as well. It's just takes a pair of glasses sometimes, well at least for me anyways. Set your idle at 900, then turn the needle in or out and find the spot that shows highest idle and then the lowest idle, set point is right in-between the high idle point and the low idle point. No need to blip the throttle or anything like that for this has nothing to do with linkage. Each carb will be set at different amount of turns seeing as one carb is never totally identical to another. Keep in mind that the circuit you are dealing with only has full use when the throttle is closed, as the throttle opens this circuit has less and less effect on the overall carb system.

  21. Bummer dude! Hope you’re back in the saddle again soon. Sadly the ONLY way that’s going to happen is if no parts are needed for the repair. I’ve been waiting 45 days just to get a replacement right side mirror!!
