I've been told that getting old is not for wussies. I plan to find out. I'm 52 and turning 50 was a wake up call to take better care of myself. Cycling, working out and an occasional jog are part of my regimen now along with intermittent fasting, eating lots of fruit & veggies and drinking green tea. But damn, I still like pizza, a good ribeye, hamburgers and ice cream! Be well @bluesky and keep inspiring us!2 points

I agree, keep looking. There can be lots of other issues if the bike was not cared for.1 point

I do like the bike as it has the nice seats, and hard bag protection, extra lighting drivers backrest, all the normal bells and whistles. So all done it will be a nice bike. I agree though they are not a mover. I would be more tempted to part out and keep the extras for my RSTD. I am going to stick to 1,200 as that’s what I think motor, trunk and front faring are worth.1 point

Would the RAM offset reservoir mount not work for you? Easy, cheap, and can be transferred to the next bike. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CMNXIO/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_CCQ1945PCKB4J20Z7FAG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=11 point

Special thanks to Jayceesfolly for sending me a couple of those turn button eyelets and studs. Jim you're right that they're not quite as stout as the original ones. Also, the "neck" just below the turn button piece is a bit longer than stock, which means the bag fits a bit looser on the studs. That said, the screw holes on the mounting plate are an exact match, so they will fit right into place. For those looking for a repair or replacement like I was, I think this is a viable solution. I may add a couple of rubber or nylon washers onto the "neck" of the stud behind the bag just to take up the slack. Again, thanks for the help Jim!1 point

Hello all, just introducing myself. I'm Derek S. and a married father of 3(44 years young). I got a new to me 05 RSTD yesterday. It's got 10K miles on the odometer and for the price I paid for a full dresser, the Harley boys would be miffed to say the least and I feel as though I got a crazy good deal considering everything else out there in the price range I was looking at. I bought it more for the cruiser aspect knowing I could tour with it if I really wanted to. The story of my bike is that it belonged to an older gentleman who rode it and then I guess it got too heavy for him and he bought a Yamaha Majesty maxi-scoot. He put 30 miles on the Majesty and then parked it and died a shortwhile later as I understand it. Both the bike and scoot sat in an enclosed garage untouched for a couple of years before being sold to the dealer/shop I bought it from. I can tell it was covered that whole time because of the condition of the seat, chrome, and all the plastics. The shop changed all fluids/filters, new tires, new battery, and rebuilt the carbs. I've only put about 20 miles on it so far but I think I'm really going to like it. I've never had a bike this nice before (Marauder, FZ6, Vulcan 900, Guzzi 1100, and Shadow 1100 are my previous bikes in order). Seems like it has very good power although I do could do with a little less whine but that seems par for the course for these engines. Wish my insurance was slightly cheaper too but they're pricing it that way because of the lowers and bags. Anway, I'm glad I found you guys because it seems as if the other Yamaha forum for cruisers isn't quite as active especially for our models.1 point

I agree, With that. He paid 600.00 for motor it was pulled from a running bike that was wrecked. Motor has 5,000 miles on it. His friend is a mechanic and checked and adjusted valves on motors. It’s supposed to be ready to drop in. bike is complete and in very nice condition as far as paint Ect. I am very tempted to buy. As far as working on it. That’s not a problem I have rebuilt many carbs, transmissions and engine. But you know how that goes. it’s not a weekend project, carbs need to be cleaned, synced, fluids changed Ect. I agree probable 300-500. so 2000 is about right, really if I sell a 99 depending on shape 3,500-4,500 tops. Not a lot of profit for the work, but I do love a challenge. I am tempted.1 point

Realistically, you're likely to be in it for a little over $2k once you factor in misc supplies to get it fully functional (plugs, oil, filter(s), etc) Guess it boils down to how comfortable you are doing the work, your tool/workshop situation, and the amount of free time necessary to complete the task.1 point

First off, your bike knows good music and doesn't want to skip it . . . Sorry, had to say it, anyway I don't use my phone as much as I just put a thumb drive in and just play music from it, the few times I have used my phone I don't believe I had this issue and I have a Samsung. I have the update so I will check for you in the couple of days and let you know if I'm having the issue or not . . . still leaning toward your bike being a Rush fan though . . . lol1 point

Cleanup is a great idea so that you can see where the fresh stuff is coming from. From the photo it looks like you have seepage in 3 places: Somewhere up on top near the valve cover bolt and a couple places seeping down from the valve cover gasket. If the bolt rubber grommets have shrunk with age, search the interwebs for "wintergreen oil alcohol recondition rubber". Worked marvelously on my '93.1 point

My Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't spraying enough water to clean the dishes in the top rack. The large screen in the bottom was clean and I don't see how anything could bypass it but a piece of broken glass did and was restricting flow to the recirc pump suction. I disassembled it to get to the pump suction and removed the piece of glass and it's back to normal. I found a youtube video tha showed how to do it. There is a video on youtube showing you how to do everything!1 point

Check your clutch slave mounting as well you may have to remove that cover pictured in my previous post to get a better look at it but make sure you have a gasket on hand for both first to avoid downing your because you have to wait for a gasket.1 point

Here is a similar part : Turn Button Eyelet and Stud, Common Sense Fasteners, 10 Piece Set, Marine Grade Nickel Plated Brass, Dot Brand - - Amazon.com A local hardware store may have them or a marine store or boat repair place. If you can't find any locally, PM me and I will send you a couple. I have several of them for use on my camper. But, I don't think my parts are of heavy duty as the ones on the bike. Jim1 point
