  1. So my name is Kevin and I just picked this little gem up from a Harley Dealer (in LaCrosse WI!) I guess they needed room for the ‘21 models and needed to get old Yaimi outta there! Offered $500 - they said yes.....with a docking fee of $100. So 6 out the door, $14.95 for the U-Haul bike trailer, couple bucks in gas for the 16 hour out and back to Michigan. On my first ride I got the pleasure of riding her while she rolled over to 100000.00. I did a quick look up in gratitude for individual that wrote all the oil change intervals on masking tap on the underside of the rt side cover. Did 300 to shake it out then another. until I could feel all the good vibrations and some of the bad, then a two up ride along Lake Michigan on Easter. Couple little things I’ll get to right away: new progressives (just arrived!)and rebuild rear brake caliber w/new pads. Last is my cute little oil leak by the kickstand. Has good tires, and halfway decent body. I think I’ll get another 100k outta her no prob!! BTW - if you know of anyone that left a beautiful Yamaha at a Harley dealer in LaCrosse let them know she’s running great and thanks for such good care‼️ BTW- In My first year of recovery from alcohol addiction I bought one in 30 pieces, put it back together, road 3000 miles on it within a week Promptly fixed a few more things and back together again.Painted it nice and blue. Rode it for a while and eventually sold. Here I am 17 years later. Feels like a dream....sounds like a dream....handles-well....like dream. heck it might even be a dream!! Been reading hours of forums here to refresh my memory banks. Thank you all for taking the time to keep this thing alive and kicking!!

  2. I don’t know about other people but I’m sick of these companies using COVID as an excuse for poor service.

  5. Was just talking to a friend and showed her these pics. She just chuckled and said that reminded her of her days on her dads farm. Not the exact same as the pics but they used a very similar thing to lift and stack hay bails in their barn. They had a rail that circled the barn at the top rafters and with a pully arrangement that ran along the rail. That suspended this type of attachment and it hooked the bail wires and so they could lift and move it anywhere in the barn to stack them. Two girls on the lift rope and her dad on the guide rope. She also remembers taking flying lessons from the loft on that set up.

  7. I would have needed a dozen long screws. I cut the bottom off and found it full of loose pieces. I removed the loose pieces and welded the bottom back on.

  8. Probably because I don’t want to mess with time and time again. The spin on adapter looks like a fine alternative. Anybody else have good luck?

  9. I had exactly the same problem with stock oil filter cover. My bolt looked just like yours. I bought this as a last ditch effort to get it off. Worked like a charm. The spiral edges inside the socket dig into the bolt head and don't let it go. Worth the money and saved a lot of aggravation.

  11. I'm not the original owner, I am the second owner. I have both keys, original tool kit, full manual. It's licensed, insured, good tires on it. Fresh oil, needs a dusting, other than that, Ready to Roll!

  12. What I did to my venture today.... Gave her a bath after finishing a 5- day, 1900 mile road trip! BTW, does anyone else ever think about selling all other worldly possessions and spending the rest of your life just seeing the country on your Venture???? Couldnt stop thinking how awesome this is! Photos from middle of nowhere(northeast corner of New Mexico, Hiway54). Small town with three buildings, one of which was this tired old service station. After snapping a few pics, curiosity got the better of me & I had to peer in the garage bay windows. I was floored by what was inside!

  13. My guess is an early life saving device for Lumber Jacks working more than 10 feet off the ground,, probably known back then as a Sky Hook. On the fast track down after the Jack mis-stepped one of his tree spurs he would simply unhook this from its scabbard found on his belt and toss, like an anchor, into the branches going by at warp speed. Of course,, most of those great American hero's were intelligent enough to attach a rope into that hoop above the hooking device before tossing it.. Noticing that your fathers specimen does not have said rope Orlin,, I am guessing that this one in particular was owned by a less intelligent Lumber Jack and that is also why your Dads Sky Hook is still in such very good condition. Probably spent its life stuck in the branches of 70 foot Douglas Fir tree while protected by the trees canopy above.
