  1. I was driving down the road today and had to flip a u-turn and follow this rig until he pulled in to a auto store. It is a Boss Hoss with a Chevy 350. The side car is how you ride?/drive? this rig. The driver/rider was the builder. He built it for a paraplegic friend. Took him 2 years. It is all custom made and he said only two exist since he has built one other with a Honda. A friend skinned it with the fiberglass. You actually drive/ride from the side car with all controls in the custom sidecar. The passenger rides on the bike. He had incredible suspension, disc brakes, shifting etc. He said he can disconnect the sidecar with 4 bolts ( they were big bolts) and all the bikes controls can be moved back t the bike. The bike only had 550+ miles on it. Unfortunately his friend passed away and the "rig" has been sitting. He decided to get it back on the road. The wheel chair ramp is electric. Just thought I would pass it on:

  2. I ride what I like and is comfortable to me. If I worried about what others say I’d be on an HD like all the followers, besides that I am an old man so it works.

  3. Buy what you want right now because the bill being proposed allows you to keep what you have but you can't buy certain firearms or larger magazines. I have everything I want and I don't plan to give them up.

  5. Requiring new employees to furnish their own hand tools usually solves that problem. For some strange reason, they treat their own tools better than they do the company's tools...and do a better job of keeping track of them. 😉 Many, many years ago I worked as an aircraft structure mechanic. All incoming mechanics were provided with a two-page list of hand tools (sizes, configurations, and quantities) they were required to purchase prior to their start date, including a rolling toolbox. You could buy cheap tools or expensive tool, your choice, but you had to pay for them out of pocket either way. A large part of day one was dedicated to inspection and complete inventory of tools, etching all tools with the employee's badge number, and shadowing the box so any missing tools could immediately be identified. In all the time I worked there, I don't recall a single tool being lost or misplaced.

  6. I guess I should have mentioned I finish off by using normal bleeding procedure at both bleeder screw and where line attaches to the master to get rid of any last air remains. when I do use the gravity method.

  7. I have done the same one a few bikes over the years. I'd get good fluid movement on the system but it never really was "good" feel on the lever. Let it sit over-night and the last bit of air would typically work its way out.

  8. Is that the pearl color? I had a 2015 Suburban with metal flake pearl she was gorgeous. Gonna have to google the Mojave trail.

  9. Have done that myself as well and it does work ........as long as you get back to it before the master is completely empty . But of course we won't discuss how I know this..

  10. If I remember the sizes correct if the sizes are off the story is the same. My 91 F150 swallowed up a 7/16 socket that was mine when changing the alternator but spit out a 3/4 x ?? box combination that wasn’t mine when replacing the transmission.

  11. I was at a local shop one day talking to the mech as he was working on a jetta. As he was removing the plastic underneath it a ratchet fell out and the owner said he had lost it the previous summer. Also had a semi pull in one day with a magnetic light stuck underneath that survived a 2500 mile run. Its amazing where tools end up.

  12. This thread prompted me to look on craigslist to see what was for sale. One pro mechanic is retired and in bad health and is selling all the tools in his garage which includes one of those snapon huge double chests full of tools as well as many other things in his garage. Price $20,000 Another guy is selling one of those 56" long Matco tool boxes empty. Price $6,000 Seems to me the prices are a little high but that's just me. They probably spent that much and more when they bought it but still... The harbor freight US General box that size which gets great reviews is less than $800.

  13. Hey Everyone, This will be my final update on the Shim Kit Saga. I received word from USPS saying they were NOT going to honor the Insurance Claim because they were used parts, and I wanted to keep the shims that actually made it all the way home! In other words, they would take possession of 55 shims, the Bucket Tool, Feeler Gauges, and the busted up case, and give me $200.00. I said, "No Thanks"! So in the future, I won't be wasting my money on USPS Insurance! On another note, The "New" Shim Kit is all back together, with about 90 shims in it, and all of the tools you will need to complete this service. At this point, I want to thank EVERYONE that has kicked in to help me replace the shims. I want to assure you that I spent every penny on new shims for the kit. And lastly, I am not back to work at my "Day Job" yet from my recent surgery, but I am on the mend and getting around pretty good these days. All of my kits I offer, as well as the Shim Kit Loan are being offered again. The only exception to this would be the Block Off Plates. I haven't been allowed to fire up the milling machine yet by my wife. If everything goes well at my next doctor's visit, I should be back to work mid March. I can't tell you how grateful I am to be sitting here still on this planet, and chatting with this wonderful group of people! So, if anyone needs the Shim Kit, or anything else for that matter, just let me know! Also Thank you EVERYONE for the support during this trying time! Earl
