True Dat. From Central Ohio, it'd be a bit far for me right now, but it's something I'd be interested in a few years ...(more than a few)...down the road when I retire. I like the way you're thinkin'.3 points

When I moved to TX the guy buying our house in Northern OH wanted my grill. It was his sticking point. I took him into the garage and showed him my 36" 2 stage snow thrower. Said he could not have my grill. Look at that driveway (3 cars wide and ~50 long) do you want to shovel that or will the snow thrower do? needless to say I kept the grill LOL.2 points

Certainly a lot of info! To add to my 1st post: Frog's Toggs. I got the heavier pants but the lightweight top. Came in handy when a cold front came through visiting @Flyinfool's house. Made for a much warmer run to the hotel an hour away! Simple pull over on top of jacket. Top also came in handy in Oklahoma when 2 storms merged into one in Oklahoma City. Rain! Also carried; stator and gasket set, fuel pump, fuel pump points, plugs, air compressor, tools, camping gear, clothes, cat litter pan liner to protect seat from rain and more! I was heavy with "stuff" for sure. New tires. Oil change. The normal stuff one does to prep the scoot was mandatory as well. Aside from a large, sharp thingie my rear tire decided to pick up outside of Chicago, I had no issues. BTW, watching @cowpuc put a plug on a tire in front of a Honda dealership was like watching a master at work! He wouldn't let me down there....mumbling something about me being a guest in his part of the world! Good people on this forum. So yes, if you decide to travel the roads....pick national 2 lanes...like 54, 70, 60 and enjoy the small towns and scenery. Also make sure you take along a list of VR members on the way you are traveling. You won't find a better bunch of guys and gals! Enjoy... Pics: Left saddlebag. Right saddlebag. Camping, clothes on pillion and light stuff on tour pack rack. Tour pack (note the toilet paper!) david2 points

Looks cool. Never needed plow proof box but I built one for mailbox baseball players. Wrapped with 3/16” plate on a 2” steel shaft. Only heard it ring once, no more problems.2 points

I also agree with Marcarl, specially on the leg length. Depending on your build a perfect leg length soon becomes as much as 10" too short the minute you sit on the bike. My 1st pair went nicely to the ankles standing up but as soon as I sat on the the bike, they came up past the top of my western boots. A cheap pair of gaiters is nice to have as well the close and snug up the gap between the bottom of the rain pants and your foot. I have tried the rain booties but it does not take long to wear through the sole on those which soon become a flapping nuisance.2 points

Here is the rain jacket I have and am very pleased with. The hood is designed to fit under a motorcycle helmet. Tour Master Sentinel LE Rain Jacket Have not found the perfect pair of rain pants yet.....2 points

3* tonight, last night was 10* with -8 windchill and a house fire for a bonus. Every time we stopped moving our gear froze stiff. I’m 36 hrs thru a 48 hr shift hoping it’s not a repeat tonight. I’m telling you it’s time to come get your weather. Snow, ice, freezing temps do not belong down here.2 points

The year i bought my fire bird i drove it home from maryland to stratton ontario. At the michigan border i hit wet snow. By the time i reached grand rapids and pulled into my aunts place i was pushing snow up onto the hood on the back roads. Btw something ive done for our mailbox to keep the plow from having to much fun is to mount the post on a spare tire, works great for mowing to. Just pick it up and mow. If the kids edge to close and hit the mirrors it flexes instead of marking the mirror. Now if only i could train them to actually retrieve the mail...1 point

You guys run the cheap shit too right? I’ll pay the extra buck for ethanol free if I have the opportunity. (Too many issues with my F150 and Duc regarding ethanol attacks 😬) I’m pretty positive the manual said 86 min.1 point

Below 0 last night, below 32 for several days. Saturday will be 37* first day above freezing for over a week, next Saturday forecast is 60*. And that folks is how KY weather works. I lost a firefighter to a broken ankle Sunday night, slipped on ice fighting fire in 2*weather, next week it’ll be warm enough to ride and fish.1 point

We are in central TX because my son and his wife were in an accident and just found out we had a waterline break in the house. Luckily neighbors shut off the water.1 point

When we take off for a ride for 4 days or more .. Make sure the bike is good to go and carry enough extra fuel for 50 miles .. Rain gear , all clothing is double packed in garbage bags . Make sure my CAA .. insurance with health coverage is up to date and they know where we are going GPS is handy while riding ,, but I still carry paper road maps I reserve and prepay for a motel room for at night ..( some people call me a sissy but at 74 years I don't care ) Ran into a hail storm in 2018 , 1 1/2 inch balls of ice , broken windshield , torn blue jeans , bruised on parts of the body We were 10 minutes from the nearest town or safety , kept on riding at a slow speed because there was no shelter anywhere else .1 point

Rain storm and Maintenance Day. Never heard of such a thing happening. 🤣🤣🤣1 point

I am aware Carl, that’s why I live down here 🤣🤣. There’s a possibility we may retire farther south to get away from more of it. All this slipping and sliding and I don’t bounce back up like I used to.1 point

I'm with Marcarl! I have 2 sets. Work great! Got caught in many rain storms--worst really hard one coming back from Maintenance Day a couple years ago. Rained really heavy most of way home until I got near border to Canada without any wetness.1 point

My 09 would get me 30-32 around town. On a road trip with wife and gear 35-40 if I kept speed down. If I was solo on a trip, closer to 32-30 LOL1 point

Y’all keep those thoughts up there. We have very few plow trucks and salt spreaders here so it doesn’t take much snow/ice to paralyze the area. Nobody has snow blowers here, farmers and a few of us with tractors clear our back roads. We rarely get a dry snow, the first two or three trucks going down a wet snowy road compress it into an ice sheet. No snow tires or chains here. Google the 2009 KY ice storm and you’ll see what two inches of ice can do overnight here. Some were without power 6-8 weeks, ours was 9-10 days. Luckily I have generators that got us thru it. Our town of 20,000 was completely cut off. No groceries or gas for a few days, a water main break left most without running water for a few days, we lost 3 buildings to fire because our hydrants were dry. We’re just not equipped to deal with it because it rarely happens here. Now they’re calling for 8-10” of dry snow Monday, should be fun dealing with that. Us old farts with 4 wheel drive trucks don’t miss a beat but everything else is so bad it’s comical.1 point

Eeeeeww with them plugged up draining water will suck the P-traps dry and then there is no stopping those aromatic sewer gasses from entering you house.1 point

Hi all i just did a dash cam challenge for ultimatemotorcycling.com I had two front/ rear 1080p cams set up on my Venture at the same time. One thing I did coming to stop lights was stop where I could read the plate in front of me and then creep up to view later where that same plate was readable on playback. It was about 2/3 closer. I just bought a “4K” Chinese action camera to see what it does on license plates. Unfortunately there is snow on the ground. Uggh. Regardless of image quality I believe we should all have a dash cam.
