  2. My youngest on her first motorcycle ride......Ok, it was about 2 blocks to daycare, but it counts! She is now 17 and wanting her own motorcycle. To this day she still remembers her first ride.

  3. When I first saw the post title I thought it was going to be some kind of a fancy wrench or socket for the bike tool box or a meme about 10mm wrench. And I’m a gun guy, lol. I carry an XD40 for CCW.

  5. Back in November my wife and I took a 4 day trip to the FL Keys. We actually fit everything in the saddlebags, trunk and extra bag on the luggage rack. The trailer was full of fishing gear. I was impressed that fully loaded, two up and pulling a trailer the RSV was able to cruise down the Turnpike at 80+ mph like the trailer wasn't even there.

  6. Same. About the post title, I was thrown too. My carry is PK380 or Super Carry Ultra Custom.

  7. Last I knew Earl was putting his kit back together after the post office scattered the shims. He’s been down with some surgery, I’m betting he’ll be around soon with another update.

  8. Don't overplan your route, allow yourself to change it up on the fly. Don't insist on a set daily destination; if you tire, find a place to stay, if you feel good, keep going.

  10. I think you Northerners done went and broke your weather. It’s down here in my yard, all ice with what we consider heavy snow coming (up to 8 inches). I would greatly appreciate it if you’d come and get it.

  11. I’m just floating this out there to see how much interest there might be. I always see the pictures of freebirds maintenance days and it looks like a great time. Unfortunately it’s a bit to far for some of us to be able to make the trip. So I’ve been thinking it would be nice to try and get some of the west coast guys together. I don’t have a big spread by any stretch of the imagination (small house on a cul de sac) but pending approval from Household 6, I could have a few bikes here before the neighbors start to get upset. i don’t have even a fraction of the knowledge that a lot of members here have, but I’m learning all the time, and I’m pretty handy with a wrench. I also have a jack adapter, a carb tune, and a decent set of standard tools. If anyone is interested please respond. Also if anyone just wants to hook up for some riding please sound off. I’m in Victorville in the high desert.

  12. Pic taken in the mid 80s. My niece and I down in Key Largo. I just took her up to the end of the street and back.... Her daughter...(my Grand Niece?) will be 4 in April. Maybe I should get a pic of her on the back of my Venture.....for posterity....

  16. I'm about 2 hours NW of Houston for family matters and we are expecting 4 degree weather in the coming days. I haven't had a real winter coat since moving to Houston 15 years ago from northern Ohio. Only my leather for the bike. I remember my first year here and getting a dusting of snow. got up to go to work, get to the gas station and all the lights are off. Figured they had a problem. Go to the next station and the same. Turn on the radio and they shut everything down. It's all perception and my perception is the north can keep this ~!@#$%^. I moved to warmer weather for a reason.

  18. Hey Squidley, that would be amazing, I probably won’t be able to get to the maintenance until mid March or even April. Anyway if you can get to it and are willing, let me know how much you need to ship and anything I could do in return.

  19. Squidley, 12 degrees in Houston really is crazy. Its supposed to be 2 degrees here in Little Rock, Arkansas Monday night. Somebody up north left the gate open, and let the ole Frosty head down south.

  23. This hits home and is so true. I always have TP in my carry on. And growing up my dad always had a roll of TP in a coffee can with some sanitizer behind the seat. When I turned 16 I started to carry my own coffee can and have one in every vehicle. It took 25 years of having that insurance behind the seat, but when the time came to cash in on my investment it payed off in Spades!

  24. @Marcarl nailed it. We’ve done the 3day trips with just the saddlebags and trunk ok, longer trips I want more tools, cooler, leathers, rain gear, snacks etc, etc. The trailer is one of my best purchases, as we get older theres cpap machines, meds, and other necessities. On the other hand. watch @cowpuc and his videos, nobody packs a bike better for two people and weeks of travel.

  26. Best take your bike, that would be tops on the list, then my mother always said to take clean underwear, so I would add that. Later in life I also learned that a pillow and something soft to lay on would be a nice addition. Also I learned, and many others would back me on this, if you take a passenger and that person happens to be female, get a trailer!! Other than that, I'm READY!!

  29. Neither of my daughters have any interest in motorcycling. I have mixed feelings, I’d like to ride with them but I know the safety issues. The Dr Daughter has worked on some crashed riders and doesn’t like Mom and Dad riding at all.
