Yeah, some of my best memories of my dad are riding on his bike. Always wanted to do the epic road trip with him, but unfortunately things just never lined up. But I’m already thinking about my daughters first bike, so maybe I’ll get a father daughter road trip one day.3 points

I am so deeply saddened to hear this news,, what a heartbreak.. Tip and I send our deepest condolences to Kev's family and friends, including the many many club members here who he loved so dearly and helped so much. He was one in a gazzillion of a true Venture guru that we all could count on to set things straight when needed. God Speed my brother! Puc and Tip Here is short video of Kev sharing well wishes to Yammer Dan after DanL' went down on his way to MD 2015. Missing you both!! Puc2 points

Received word from my dealer that Yamaha has approved the repairs. Now just have to wait on delivery of the part. And hopefully since I got my recall letter in the mail today, I can get the front brake switch replaced at the same time.2 points

That's the ride she'll remember all her life. I remember when I took my 70 year old aunt for her 1st ride on the back of my RSV. She loved it!2 points

Hi All, It has been a looooooong time since I've been on the site here. Teresa and I have had some crazy things come up in our lives the past couple years that have taken our focus off of riding. We have occasionally gotten on the bike for maybe a short ride to go eat or something here and there, but probably haven't put more than a couple thousand miles on it the past couple years combined. IN the past couple years, we have dealt with: Me having 2 heart events that required hospital stays, and surgeries. The last one this past June 2020 was an event that happened while I was playing golf. My heart went into ventricle tachycardia, which resulted in my heart stopping, and me having to be carried to the ER, and hospital for a weeks stay, and a defibrillator installed. We're also dealing with two ailing mothers,, one of which we've had to move into our home to live with us. This has taken up great amounts of our time, dealing with selling my moms house and property and all of the work to get that completed. As well as Teresa having to go stay a day or two per week with my 93 yr old mother in law to help her. The list goes on and on. It has been a strange couple of years for us. We still have the 2007 RSTD that prompted me to become a member here way back in 2008. She's still a beaut, and runs well after all these years. She has taken us to 37 states over the years. Buuuuut.......We have been kind of losing interest with riding, due in large part with my heart health issues. With the defibrillator installed now, we have a concern that if we ever did go down, it could be a serious situation with the electrical connections and such with my heart and the defibrillator. We are getting to the age where going down just isn't something we want to deal with, or at least we want to reduce the chance of it happening as much as possible. However, we both agree that we aren't finished with our desires to drink the wind, and experience the therapy that we all know comes with riding out in the open air across this beautiful nation of ours. So..........this past October 7th, we purchased a brand new 2020 Can Am Spyder RT Limited. Big beautiful red/black machine that has completely won our hearts. We purchased it on October 7th, and two days later, put it on a trailer and towed it to Flagstaff AZ. Left our truck and trailer at an RV park in Flagstaff, and rode the new Spyder on a 1250 mile loop around northern AZ, southern Utah, and eastern NV. Took me a few days to get used to the thing, but now we are flat out excited to have it! It runs and rides smooth as a baby's behind, and has all of the fancy dancy thingamabobbers you can get on bikes nowadays. And, it comes with a far more secure feeling of not having to worry as much about going down. I know the rule; I'll post pics soon. I just wanted to jump on and say hi to all of my old friends, and say hi to a lot of new names I haven't seen before on the site. Please accept my apology for taking a loooong break. I'm baaaack! Big Lenny.1 point

Need a 83 venture that runs. Need it for work. I travel around the state. Given up on mine. Blown head gasket and been sitting outside too long. Looking for another one. Funds are limited. So if you have extra one sitting around you don't ride. I'll give it a life and try to put a million miles on it 🤠. @cowpuc LMAO 😆1 point

Thanks Patch. Definitely no air box drilling going on here. Appreciate the knowledge you share! My concerns about putting some mesh webbing in the down pipe would be 1) it getting clogged and not knowing its clogged, 2) pain to get to for maintenance and 3) since its inline to a 4 cylinder vacuum cleaner that it could get sucked in, especially if it gets clogged up.1 point

I just bought a 2009 RSV for a big ride with my buddies. We'll ride from Oregon to Duluth, MN and then around Lake Superior. The distance is about 1500 each way to Duluth and then 1000 miles around the lake, so a 4k trip in total. Previous bikes were a 2001 BMW 1150GS and a 1989 Yamaha FJ1200. Great bikes all. At this point I'm an engineer, but retiring very soon! kam meister1 point

The currant air compressor and valveing system used on all MKI and MKII class systems has everything you want other than dropping pressure to zero with ignition switched off. You should be able to adapt it to what you want, though I am not sure why you would want it to drop to zero. On that note check out any truck parts supplier and ask for an electric over air valve. they are often used in things like lift axles. They come in normally open or normally closed. The valve is approximatly 1 inch in dia and 2.5 inches long. You can also check companys like Parker Hannifin or Norgren https://www.haldex.com/en/na/suspension-controls/valves/electric-solenoid-valve/90054074/1 point

OPTION 1; Try spraying the gasket surfaces and the gasket with Permatex high tack. Allow to dry to a point just beyond tacky and assemble. OPTION 2; Apply a thin coat of Permatex No2 to the gasket surfaces and reassemble with the gasket. OPTION 3; Apply a small bead 1/32 to 1/16 inches in dia of anaerobic gasket eliminator along the center of the gasket surface. Do not smooth out. reassemble with gasket. OPTION 4; Coat the damaged areas with JB weld for aluminum. once hard, file or sand smooth and reassemble. NOTE: I do not recommend using a silicone in combination with a gasket as all too often the silicone causes the gasket to squeeze out or distort when you tighten the bolts. If you think you can get away with out the gasket use either a small bead 1/32 to 1/16 inches in dia of anaerobic gasket eliminator along the center of the gasket surface. Do not smooth out and reassemble or A product called the right stuff again applying a small bead down the center and letting it spread naturally as you assemble the parts. By applying a bead rather than smoothing it out it pushes out any air and eliminates the risk of developing air pockets1 point

I have some very tragic news. This popped up on my FB feed just now, Kevin M. Campbell (Prairie Hammer), passed away yesterday.. His knowledge of these bikes is legendary. He gave so freely of his time and expertise to help so many of us with our Venture issues. God Rest His Soul and may he rest in peace. If you would like to leave condolences that his family will see, please visit his facebook page: [https://www.facebook.com/Prairiehammer](https://www.facebook.com/groups/572977006222420/user/100001306650761/?__cft__[0]=AZWISubKfGCnzjj9Hf6tO87xz9Lp7Uh6UfbAo3j29eqrzo1rxSPKisMnBFWrf5SAGdjLDWDgN3NWPDAYvzp00-5Ufw3I1zmxN9ZR_hjdv0WUpEw3n3etBpYyjVe-wRHbibCXpPFr-9nr8KcIFBG7qN7P&__tn__=-]K-R)0 points
