  1. hey Puc I think that flyinfool really missed the mark this time. We got snow in central Texas up to about 3 to 4 inches this past sunday. Been in this part of Texas all my life and this was the best snow fall that I remember.

  2. lol,,,,, LOL,, LOL,, good one Spence LOL... Nooo,, no no no,,, wasnt me LOL.. I showed this to Tippy and she and then said THANKFULLY that wasn't,, is not on your bucket list LOL.. I/we did win the bid on a gorgeous 67 but ended up with a mess up in the auction and the seller would not let it go for the amount of the bid.. They (Mecum) REALLY put the pressure on the sellers to remove the reserves and I think there was a mess up in communications therein.. Oh well, back to the drawing board.. I am currently working on a deal on a 66 Big Block roadster in California, not to far from the kids so I have a storage place for it till spring if it all works out.

  3. Puc, you didn't happen to be the winner of Carroll Shelby's 65 427 Cobra at Kissimmee were ya? 6 Mil was a hefty price tag, but I know you were adamant for the 427 🤑 https://www.foxnews.com/auto/carroll-shelbys-1965-shelby-427-cobra-6-million

  4. I have hunted all kinds of game in my time and enjoyed it very much .. Some of it great weather and some in nasty weather , the 7 X 61 Schultz and Larson capable of 220 grains /200 yards at 2889 ft per second .I loaded ammo for the local law enforcement as well for RCMP Provincial force . On my last hunt i spent 4 weeks in Northern Albert ending on November 15th .. 5 of went in the bush land 40 miles from no where ..We walked in the last 20 miles to a Camp ...On the 4 day I got lost while tracking a moose ...I fell through the ice and near drowned , I stuck my hunting knife into the ice to pull my self out , I was hurt and could not walk .. I the story is way to long to say it all now . I sold my firearms and I gave the last 2 away , which turned out to be near impossible ...Canada had set up a registration process that anyone could be arrested for owning a firearm..( all because some crazy nut killed 30 people ) in Quebec ...I live in Manitoba and the head government office was in eastern Canada .. As I was trying to give the last 2 away I called the head office to explain , I had all the correct paper work ..The Woman tells that Manitoba is not in Canada ...I answered back to her and said yes it is ...I said you get into car and head west you will get to Manitoba in 8 days ...After 4 hours on the phone and her getting help from someone else in their office it finally did work ...At the end of the call I said to her that this registration process is flawed is set up so that anyone can be arrested charged under the firearms act , Her to me oh I know that the government is trying to eliminate all firearms in Canada ..Fortunately the governing Liberal Party in power got dumped the following year and some of the laws have changed .

  5. First off, I wanted to thank each and everyone for your prayers and well wishes for both Jean and myself. I can't tell you how much it meant to us, especially right after the surgery when it was touch and go there for a while. The next thing I wanted to say is I am VERY grateful to be ALIVE today! This all started on December the 6th of last year. My left leg had been going numb off and on over the last year and it had finally gotten to the point where one day it went numb, and the feeling never returned. I thought I was looking at a hip replacement, my doctor was skeptical. He sent me for an MRI anyway. The report came back that afternoon and my hip joint was in excellent condition, but the doctor found a rather large aneurysm at the base of my Aorta, and I had zero blood flow to my left leg, and only 40% blood flow to my right leg. I was called at work the next morning, and was TOLD that I needed to get to the hospital for a CT Scan ASAP! At that point, this stopped sounding like a hip replacement, and more like something much worse! I left work at 10am, got the CT Scan and met with the best Cardiac Surgeon in the area. He gave me two options, pop a couple stents in the Femoral Leg Arteries and hope the aneurysm doesn't explode for like the rest of my life, or sigh up for a legit Triple Bypass. Now overall, I'm in pretty decent health. NO heart disease, I'm not Diabetic, and I stopped smoking about 10 years ago. If I address this issue in a timely manner, I could have another 20 years left in me, maybe more. The lure of the stents was a very quick recovery. I talked it over with Jean, and decided to go for the Triple Bypass. I have attached some pics below. I haven't really been out to the shop since I have been home. Jean, of course has been watching me like a hawk. I am currently receiving at home PT, and am working on the going to the bathroom issue. It seems like my stomach has forgotten where my butt is for the time being! LOL!! On a brighter note, the feeling in my left leg is about 90% restored. I am now able to walk farther than I have been able to in over a year which is wonderful news! Thank you again for the prayers and well wishes, It meant a lot to me! Earl and Jean.

  6. On my 83 I used to get about 20,000 miles on the back tire, and after I trashed the first coupling/driveshaft, I started pulling the back wheel at about 10,000 miles to replenish the grease. At 10,000 miles, the coupling was almost dry. I started out using a quality wheel bearing grease and switched to a thick moly grease. There wasn't a drastic amount of difference.

  7. Larry, I've been using a good quality wheel bearing on the Ventures I've owned for over 15 years. Some of the guys add moly to it, but good high pressure wheel bearing grease has never let me down.

  8. Thanks @Patch for boiling that down to such a simple explanation for me. I tend to over-complicate things...😆 The lambda stuff sounds really cool. Wish we had such a closed-loop system on the Venture w/ fuel injection, O2 sensors and computer control. Wow, wouldn't that make an awesome bike awsomer! Now that I've got a set of rebuilt and clean carbs, I'm off to put a crankcase breather filter and oil catch can on the bike. I was working that out while waiting for the rebuilt carb shipment. No more oily mess @ the intake.

  9. I have my 83 Venture getting near to put back on the road ...As I read this entry it hit me this is what I needed to do , as always is the time you spend on little things like applying grease to splines and fittings can save you from some major down ..I now know what I will be doing tomorrow ...I normally have used a light coating of grease on the drive shaft splines or is there something that is better than ordinary automotive grease
