  1. Please forgive me for the above post, If it was out of line. It was never meant to open Pandora's box and start a controversial thread. I don't know enough about American politics to have an opinion one way or the other. I only wanted to express my sincere hopes that however the vote goes, that at the end of the day, it's the American people as a whole in health and freedoms that walk away from this election as the true winners in the long run. I also apologize to you @Freebirdit was never meant to hijack your thread. Best Wishes to all of you.

  2. I've been watching this thread. My reply is going to be fairly short but hopefully will answer one of the questions that has been answered. First of all, this thread has turned far from what it was written for. Secondly, it has certainly become political, any way you slice it. Normally I would have already deleted all the political posts but I know that tensions are high right now and people feel the need to express themselves. I still think there are plenty of websites that are designated strictly for political discussion and you that feel strongly about arguing the points should do it on one of them. After today, possibly sooner, these political posts will be removed. Now I THINK the question that has been asked is "Can a person who is not a moderator make a thread go "poof". The answer of course, is no. There are a number of ways that such a situation can be addressed. If any member chooses he doesn't like a certain thread, he or she can submit it to the moderators and we will make a decision. If the member posts something just for the sole purpose of blowing up the thread and cause it to be deleted, there is the option of simply deleting that one post, or more than one, and banning the member from the thread. Of course they could then get mad and start another thread just to continue their tirade. The options then are to let them know that it won't be tolerated and then if it continues, the member could be temporarily or permanently banned from the site. So no, no member can make a thread go "poof" just because they don't like a response that was posted. It would be looked at and a decision made and then action taken. Now this is NOT pointed at any individual. A question was asked and this is simply the answer.

  3. I've been restoring our Memoriams Page. You can find it under the "Browse" tab at the top but I'll probably make a menu tab for it. Still have a couple to add. Will get to it very soon.

  4. I had to give this some thought, and had to re-read what it was that was posted. I think it could be two-fold. One is that politics has no place here, and it would not be hard to inject some political thoughts into the discussion and hence delete this whole thread. I do have to compliment those involved, on staying mostly out of that arena, although I bet there may have been some erasing done before posting. Two, would the discussion on how the whole Covid situation is being dealt with, or not, what effect it has, or has not, how it might or might not have an effect on the lives of humans. This could also get political very quickly but maybe more importantly was leading to 'direct debating' , if I may call it that. That is the prime reason for my suggestion to 'address the chair', if for no other reason that to keep us away from biting at each other. Three,, I know, I said two, but I couldn't possibly keep this short,,, eh @saddlebum. Folks on North side of the border have the opportunity to watch what's going on with your side. We are not actually involved, we don't have to live with the consequences as you do. I didn't say it doesn't effect us, it will somehow, but we have no real say in the matter, so it's a different ball game for us. We get our info by the News and what ever else we decide to watch or listen to. As with all reporting, there is a slant and we will remember more easily the slant that supports our own thinking rather than any slants that do not. Personally, I do not envy the decision that Americans have/had to make. Sure is good to know that there is a Power that overlooks all this, and that nothing can happen without His knowledge.

  5. I believe that I have all our deceased members added back to the memoriams page. If you can all take a look at the page I would appreciate it. There are two or three members that I only had partial names for or could not remember their reel or usernames., Please take a look and reply here if you can help fill in the blanks. You can find it by clicking on "browse" and then memoriams. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  6. Take a deep breath gentlemen. Respond if you will, but before you post, re-read your dialogue Please.!! Some of this is good to share, but lets keep it in the flavour of sharing. Give out info if you will, but anymore personal pointers and things go POOF!!!! Let's just put a new rule in place. When posting to this thread, or any thread like it.... speak to the chair, not the individual. Sound fair? Lets see how that works.

  7. Hi all, I needed to new bluetooth unit for my ride with the Klim off road helmet I posted a review of a while ago. I felt the Sena unit with a stated 1 mile range would be good one since I have had a lot of success with Sena products. 1 mile by the way is wishful but does give good range for a group ride. If someone is hanging back a mile they deserve to not hear about my bladder issues....... I haven't ridden with my brother @cowpuc since 2015 but I'll bet his hearing is still good enough to hear me complimenting him on how pretty Tweeks carves the twisties....so he don't need no stinkin, lop eared, bluetooth contraption anyway. But for the rest of us: Here is my review - comments are always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/11/02/sena-10s-motorcycle-bluetooth-communication-system-review/ VentureFar...

  8. @Flyinfool did done do it today, shot that whitewasher all the way across the lake and land to cover my grass. Nice job @Flyinfool!!! Now the rest of you guys get ready for your shot. This was only a practice, to make sure it works alright. Picture may not be the best, but it's dark out here. The white you see was green a couple of hours ago. So much for summer!!

  12. According to the Summit ad, the solder in the sleeve starts melting at 280 degrees. This may not be a good application for stator wire connections. That temperature might be exceeded in that application? Don't know?

  13. Puc, I went down the air flow thing as my first attempt to solve the heat issue. The previous owner put a shiny chrome piece over the radiator. Took that off away, didn't like the look of it (yes, there can be too much chrome) and didn't see the point of blocking even a little airflow. I have had the tank, seat, etc off several times and no signs of anything out of place that would restrict airflow. Today, I measured the heat diff on #1 within two minutes of a cold start, but I didn't log anything in terms of specific times or temps. I'm running 87 octane fuel. I ordered the Alpha Moto guages from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MSE9JO/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I decided to soak the float bowl in SeaFoam overnight, clear it out tomorrow morning and be ready (hopefully) for the sync. To fill the bowl w/ Seafoam, I first drained it then closed the tank petcock and disconnected the fuel line from the tank. Next, with the drain screw closed, I simply turned the key to ON (didn't start the bike) which triggered the fuel pump to run and refill the bowl with residual gas in the line. Rinse & repeat until there's no more gasoline in the line, pump or bowl. Now I used a nice little squirt bottle from the kitchen (hehe, don't tell my wife!) to put straight SeaFoam into the fuel line, turn the key to ON and let the fuel pump fill up the bowl. I was pretty damn proud of myself for coming up with that! You guys are making me dangerous but I'm sure others who are much smarter figured this out long before me. My plan is to repeat the process tomorrow with a 50/50 mix of seafoam/gas before firing it up. I've seen some youtube videos of others professing to have had success with this approach. I'm captiously optimistic this, along with a sync will bring success. Or perhaps its just wishful thinking and I'm about to learn a whole lot more about carbs than I ever intended to... Grateful as always for your input!!

  15. Personally I do not see either side or anyone I know laying down our weapons, sticking our heads in the sand hoping the enemy just walks away Ben. There is a big difference in approach to Communist China's open attack on the free world by each party in the U.S. though. Personally, I am privy to a lot of the science behind the virus (I have a daughter who is front line on the research and development of tools for handling it) but I truly have no better access to this knowledge than anyone who wanted to trash listening to Gov propaganda and do their own research. Just to bring you up to speed, cause I love you too, this wearing a mask thing is nonsense UNLESS you are properly wearing an N95 mask or better. Wearing of anything less has zero effect in protection. Also, any facial hair must be removed and the masks must be fit properly. Actually, the make up of this weaponized virus is of such that a proper fitting full blown resparator is about your surest way of protection with wearing a full blown haz mat suit with resporator and decontaminate shower between changes and then living in a bubble protection environment being about the way of absolute protection. Like it or not,, all of that is fact.. One of the things that we Americans have always enjoyed about the freedom/liberty the blood of our countrymen/women has purchased for us (I have a hunch that we should all take another peek at the true definition of Liberty - IMHO, many have forgotten what it really is) is that many of us in America who have grown to love and treasure the Freedom/Liberty our Constitutional way of life affords us do not appreciate Government controlling our lives. Passing on vital information such as I wrote above - yes,, closing down our country and locking us inside "for our own protection" - absolutely NOT.. Individual Liberty is lost when that type of socialism peeks its head out IMHO. Perhaps what you see as running and hiding/sticking our heads in the sand hoping the enemy will just disappear is something some of us Americans see as boldly facing the enemy and not allowing those who have sold out our country and have authority over us to trick us (thru propoganda) or force us into surrendering our individual liberties and freedoms by allowing something like the Covid virus to dominate our lives.. Something to think about.. Puc

  16. @cowpuc Puc you ere taking this too far. Chat is one thing but your opinion on this is harsh and I think you are beginning to lay blame on those that do not see it your way! In my oo\pinion Puc you are very wrong, and tho that does not make me right nor does it make you righter for lecturing against your on founding documents. Stop now or I will cause this to POOF!
