The dealer in Woodstock usually has one on the floor. I think he probably sells 2 or 3 a year, maybe more, just a guess on my part.

Dont "Venture" up to Woodstock too much, nice town, I like the town square with that little French restaurant my wife likes. Can't say I've been to the dealer.

Only 1700 sold last year is not much market share. That $1000 price increase for 09 would buy a nice first gen.

 

If they would make some much needed upgrades I"m sure they would sell more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I considered the idea of trading of my 08 ultra if the changes we ALL were hoping for would have been made. The way I see it the big change is the price, which by the way is more then I paid for the ultra, and less storage space as it seems they filled a bag with a cd player. I still wish I would have kept my 2005 RSV:doh:

I wonder where they found the big Japanese men to test ride the original prototypes. Sumo wrestlers probably were the first to request a RSV. Now those are big men! With that Sumo stance I bet they designed the RSV so they could straddle one flatfooted in the Sumo position.:rotf::rotf::rotf:

 

Yamaha is a global company, with Japanese and USA (among others) design teams...like I said, they know a few big Americans!

scott, i'm on the wing strictly by accident. i bought it on a whim. it is just as hard to handle at low speeds as my rstd was. i replaced my rstd with a v-star 1300. i love it. it does everything perfect accept for one thing it ain't no touring bike. the vtwin just don't cut the mustard. really can't see anything new about the harley for the exorbanant price. the overall design is archaic by todays standards. they just took a hundred year old motor and keep changing it with upgrades. it's still the same old single crankpin male and female rod, v-twin, aircooled push rod engine thats been around from day one. they are nice looking bikes but from an engineering stand point are ancient technology. i don't see anything ancient about a venture accept for the cassett player. the motor is still a high tech design, and up with the times. even the carbs aren't a bad asset they work fine, i can work on them and tune them with everyday tools, i never had an issue with them. i'm not against people riding harleys but facts are facts. there is no comparison between a harley v-twin and the yammer engine when it comes to technology. bill :stirthepot::2133:

Chosen by accident or not you still chose a bike that has been updated a few times this decade. If the Wing had a nice foot position for me I would be looking at that too. I totally agree with you. Yamaha just needs to get back to reality and stop looking to make more bar cruisers. That is the only reason I am looking at the Ultra myself. They are actually trying to make it better.

 

Bill just a question? Does the Wing have a casette player. I know the Harley doesnt.

 

Dont get me wrong I love the RSV but it has gotten real stale and needs at least a little attention. Instead of tweeking it though I think they will just change it into a Wing Clone. That is my guess

Well now, like I predicted, we have to wait till the 2010 model year for the EFI engine in the RSV.

 

About this time next year I will be selling my 2007 RSV, IF Yamaha keeps the styling on the 3rd gen RSV similar to the current model year.

 

 

BTW I do like the colors of the 2009 RSV.

 

 

 

Can anybody figure out where the photos were taken?

If you are 'slim and trim' and riding a 2nd gen, you are a competent rider, but also, you are in the minority.

 

 

I agree... I am in the "minority" when it comes to size (unless of course I'm compared to guys in Asia!). Insofar as riding a 2nd gen, I have test drove them and frankly, I found them easier to handle than both of my 1st gens.

 

All you have to do is join a Yamaha V-Star or Harley Sportster forum and see LOTS of women riding those bikes, as opposed to this forum, where its probably 95% men riding the Venture

 

You're comparing apples to oranges. Now look at the Harley Ultra which is more in line with the Venture....how many "little people" do you see riding those? But I doubt Harley built that bike with BIG Americans in mind...similarly, I doubt Honda designed the GW with that idea in mind also. Circumstance. They are big bikes...small people simply have difficulty handling them and they have to be big bikes in order to handle the "two-up touring" that they are designed for.

Went to my dealer this morning and he to was disappointed. His Yamaha rep has been telling him for the last few months that there would be changes to the 09's. Rep. made it sound more than different colors. I thought of buying new Venture,but now I don,t know. Always wanted a Harley. Wife said I could buy a new bike if I put the sidecar back on the old 86. I like the way she is thinking these days. Gil

Go ahead and put that sidecar back on and meet my Wife and I at the International Rally Next August in Ark.
