BulldogRSTD Posted September 8, 2008 #1 Posted September 8, 2008 I have a RSTD that has just over 6000 miles on it. The muffler tips were turned town. I turned them up recently. I noticed that when I first start my bike, I see moisture in accumulating on the inside if the muffler tip until the bike warms up. This only is happens on the right muffler. Is this normal condensation or should I be concerned. The bike seems to function normally. I checked the coolant and it seems to be where it should (suspecting an internal problem). Any thoughts would be appreciated.
V7Goose Posted September 8, 2008 #2 Posted September 8, 2008 The only thing abnormal here is that you only see the moisture on one side. One of the byproducts of combustion is water. When the temperatures are cold, that is why you see clouds of steam and dripping water coming out of the auto tail pipes in the morning when everyone is heading to work. The moisture in the hot exhaust condenses on the cool pipes just like water does on the outside of a glass of ice water. After the engine and exhaust are fully heated up, this moisture has nothing to condense on, so you don't see it as it is just blown out with the rest of the gasses. Goose
