As you can see, I have the 87 for sale now. (I am no electrician) and Lonestar Medic found me a beautiful 86. But this one has the hitch on it. I don't plan on towing but thought it probably doesn't increase the sale price on the old bike. Is it worth the time to pull it off just in case, or give it up?

Take it off and keep it. Is so nice to load up a cargo trailer with camping gear or suitcases for the hotel. Gil

When I bought my 84 VR, it had a hitch on it. Seeing as to how I have no intention of pulling a trailer I pulled the hitch off the bike. However, I kept it just in case it ever came in handy for anything. You just never know for sure.;)

Keep it. When I was looking for a bike I passed on several that had a hitch...thought the same thing....no plans on towing anything. After our first long trip we determined that a trailer was the way to go to haul everything. Then had to drop big bucks to get a hitch not to mention the time it took to find one.

ya you might as well keep it, it's a pain in the but everytime you have to pull the rear wheel off, but i figured it saved my butt when i got rear ended, that took most of the blow, which would otherwise been on the rear tire and frame. :2cents:

I have one on my 83 Venture and installed one on my 08 Wing. I do have a trailer but I added the hitch to the Wing so I could carry our ice chest. Sure is nice having the hitch & rack to carry other stuff like extra bags or ice chest without having to worry about the trailer.... Keep it and put it away you never know you may want to carry extra stuff or even an ice chest some day.

....To Me!.....

If you think it's worth your time to take it off and sell it separately, I'd be interested. I've been looking for a decent used hitch for my 88.:clap2:

I thought about getting a hitch for the Beemer, but like most manufacturers, BMW doesn't look too fondly on them where warranty is concerned. Oh well, I'll just keep getting on my dad to add one to his Wing, then he can carry all my extra crap as well! :rotf:
