brscooter Posted September 4, 2008 #1 Posted September 4, 2008 This is Lyle Johnson's (BRScooter) son. We just went through a devastating hurricane here in Baton Rouge. He had a huge pecan tree fall on his living room roof while he was in the room. However, the tree damaged the exterior of the residence but it did not come through the roof. Nearly 100% of Baton Rouge is without power and he most likely will not have lights for 3 to 4 weeks. He & all of his family are safe, but hot & tired. As soon as he gets back online, he will be back communicating with ya'll.
kbran Posted September 4, 2008 #2 Posted September 4, 2008 Thanks for the post, been wondering if he was alright. I live in Bogalusa and we had no damage. My son lives in Greenwell Springs and they are ok. Tell him Kenny said hi and if there is any thing we can do to call me.

Please also tell him if he needs to store his house hold stuff in a storage facility near him until the roof / house is repaired, that I will offer to pay the storage fee for him (up to $50.00 a month for 6 months) to help him out.

1BigDog Posted September 4, 2008 #11 Posted September 4, 2008 Thanks for posting the update. Just glad that no one was hurt. Going without power for several weeks is rough. I was going nuts by the third day here after Fay.
DragonRider Posted September 4, 2008 #12 Posted September 4, 2008 If he needs anything or we can do anything to help him out, just say the word. I know what he's going through, been through a few of those myself.........after all I lived in NOLA for 50 years. My son and his wife live in Albany, and they got their power back already, but others in the area are still doing without. Glad no one was hurt, keep us posted.
brscooter Posted September 6, 2008 Author #13 Posted September 6, 2008 Hi! I am at my son's washing clothes and took a look in here to see how evryone is doing. I thank you all for your concern, especially ECK, who has gone far past the normal (OH, that explains it) person wih his offer . Our living room took a real hit with the pecan tree and we need new struts in the attic, new roof, new soffet and new fascia in areas. Need the inside of the room fixed as it cracked the ceiling in a couple of places and then painted. After all of the outside work they can do the electical work and hopefully get the utility company to hook us back up. Sounds like at least a month. Hopefully that is all. I am very thankful that myself and family are all OK. That is most important. Eck I am just kidding friend and your offer means more to me than I can ever express. If you ever need anything, just let me know and I will do whatever I can. Thanks Lyle
SaltyDawg Posted September 6, 2008 #14 Posted September 6, 2008 Thanks for the update. Them Hurricanes are nothing to trifle with. Glad they are safe, hopefully they get power back soon.
