BLUERIDGEBORN Posted September 3, 2008 #1 Posted September 3, 2008 I would like to add a luggage rack on my 2007 Venture. The only one I've seen is on JC Whitney but is says it only fits up to 2003. So where do I get a decent one from? Ride Safe Phil
Mariner Fan Posted September 3, 2008 #2 Posted September 3, 2008 Well first of all, the RSV's are all the same. So that JC Whitney rack should work. I like the Yamaha rack. I've also seen a different one that is from a goldwing (I think).
frankc Posted September 3, 2008 #3 Posted September 3, 2008 I saw the same rack and when I called JC Whitney, they told me it would fit up to 2008 but they were out of stock or a discontinued model. So i got mine at JP Cycles. Show Chrome makes it and it looks great. No template comes with it so take your time and center it up the best you can before you drill the holes. Good Luck
Ky. Rider Posted September 3, 2008 #4 Posted September 3, 2008 I bought mine new off E-Bay so you might check there. It is the one made by Yamaha for the RSV and I like it for looks and use.
99silver Posted September 3, 2008 #6 Posted September 3, 2008 The Yamaha one has much better support, if you go with the JC Whitney type use some fender washers for additional support. There are some posts on this somewhere on the site, some have experienced cracking of the trunk lid without the added support. Gary
Guest BluesLover Posted September 3, 2008 #7 Posted September 3, 2008 I've got one for a Gold Wing on my RSV and like it a lot. Cheers,
TallyVenture Posted September 3, 2008 #8 Posted September 3, 2008 Even if you can get one from JC Whitney, I don't recommend it. I bought mine from them last fall, and six months later, rust started appearing in various locations.
MAINEAC Posted September 4, 2008 #9 Posted September 4, 2008 I like this one but I wouldn't pay $300+ for it... http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/prodimages/2017.JPG [/url]http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AMA2018
