What setting have others found best on the air suspension, and do you readjust it when riding single versus with a passenger? If it helps, I push the bike down with about 330lbs of force. (makes me feel better saying it that way:duck:) Fortunately my passenger will be about 7/16 of that!! Lew, you are going to fit in fine around here because there are a lot here with A LOT of FORCE. sarges46 Posted September 3, 2008 #27 Posted September 3, 2008 A couple things with the air suspension. No, you cannot adjust while riding...that is a safety factor. You must stop and set the key to acc. mod. Another thing is dont forget to reset the damper if riding two up. That is a little black dial on the lower left side by the foot rest. It is normal to have the setting at 2 for single and 3-4 for two up depending how much stiffness you want. Nice bike btw..I just sold my 89 blue this spring. It was a great bike.
Guest thomas443 Posted September 3, 2008 #28 Posted September 3, 2008 Hello I really do like my heel toe shifter once I got used to it. Also the factory intercom is great on my bike. My wife and I use it all the time. Also my wife likes the arm rest that we installed on our 2003 Royal Star Venture.

Anyone explain? The dampener works with the shock to restrict fluid movement, therefore making the shock stiffer. The air pressure adjustment is like adding another spring giving the shock more lift. We are very happy with them and they are way better than the Chatterbox that came with my Venture. You will find them at the bottom of this page http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=326 One caution on the full face model - You need to cut foam out of the chin bar for the mic which is rather deep. Not a problem on my Wife's HJC CL-15, but on my FX it's tough to find a spot deep enough. Make sure to mount the mike well up the chin bar. On my wife's I got it too low and it picks up some noise in a strong crosswind.

I just picked up my first Venture (3rd Yamaha) yesterday,(Labor Day) and rode it home about 3 hours, mostly interstate, through Chicago and then east toward Toledo. WOW, what a road bike. I test rode several GW's in the past month or so, and was just disappointed. No excitment, nothing there. Been trying to find a local Venture owner that would let me test ride, but no luck, so I just went ahead and purchased one, jumped on and rode it home. No regrets!! Previous owner truly pampered this 1989 Venture Royale, it close to a 10! But I am wondering a few things, that perhaps someone would take the time to answer. I am not used to the heel toe shifter yet. Not sure I want to be. I seem to recall reading that there are toe shifters available. Any thoughts on whether I should just get used to it, or change. What have other experianced with this. Also, my hopes are to get my wife riding with me (and enjoying it) Thought perhaps the intercom system would help. I can only imagine that there are really cruddy systems out there and some that are nice and clear, good sound quality. Should I use the intercom system built into the bike? or independent? I have never had or used an intercom system on a bike before. Some advice would be helpful. Thanks and Great Rides to all! Still trying to understand how to navigate and use this site. Looks like it's full of great information and insights. Hope I can become a worthy member of this group of like minded Venture Riders! The tingle up the leg was my wry attempt at humor, that some may get. But that comes close to descibing my feelings on my new (old) Venture.Maybe you need to name your new bike Barrack!

Man I still can't believe all the great advice you all have shared with me. This truly is a great community of Venture Riders. I am taking all this advice to heart. The info on the damper was most helpful as is the intercom systems. I have been researching, trying to figure out which model and mfg is best, without spending an arm and two legs(I need those to hold the bike up). Thanks again to all, Lew
