Well I could leave pretty easily but I,as I was lurking, found a lot of interesting posts, pictures and the like.... am I family, the Yamaha family for sure, but my bike is nothing like what you guys ride.I live in a different world.I could post pics and stories of a couple of rides but that would not be right...readers on here want the Venture...as it should be,so I will try and keep any posts generic in other threads.....

Ride safe...............

He is hooked and he ain't quite realized it yet. Once you become family you can't leave no matter what you ride.

We have plenty of wings, beemers and even a few of what you ride in addition to many other makes and models (There is a guy here that has a '72 Kawasaki H2). People on here may have started with a Venture and found they needed to change, they are still here!

When a ride, M&E or some kind of event happens, join in and make sure to bring that perty XS Eleven Special along with you. Your ride will be noticed in an admirable and good way.

So, sorry, too late, you made too much of an impression to say bye!

Cervie,....well I never owned a Venture, never rode one but from what little time I have spent here....:15_8_211[1]:I have felt welcome....thinking about a ride report with pics to sorta let the crowd know where the Venture started at it's humble beginnings:-)

Bill not too worry we have had people with all kinds of bikes join in and some never bought a venture, we even had people who joined who did not even own a bike, all welcome, not too mention this site is about the venture but as you most likely read there is a lot that has nothing to do with the venture or even riding.

Hey steoppenwolf. If you look at the Venturte history you'll see that your bike in full touring trim was actually the the first Venturer. I know because I have both a 79 XS 1100 in full tour trim and an 85 Venturer. The XS has a powerful kick mostly because of less weight. The Venture at 800 lbs and only 15 more horse than the XS doesn't quite equal it. But The Venture is a complete package with a t frame meant for sportier riding. The XS was considered a power bike more for straight line excelleration. My XS is hooked up to a velorex sidecar and bulls like a bull all day long. The XS and the Venture have a similar characteristic of getting smoother as they go faster. Both seem happier higher in their rev range. The Venture I have is an 85 and still runs great. Then too so does my XS11.

The Venture was such a good bike I believe thats why Honda produced the ST1100 and kawasaki the Concours in 87 to each have two bikes to compete with it. The Venture 1st Gen.was and is a real Sport touring bike. The second gen. is sporting but more a touring bike in keeping with the newer Wing, and Victory Vision. The First gen's real decendant now is the FJR1300 in my opinion.

Ok I have hung around a bit,did a trip report in the picture section, haven't got the pics part figured out right but that was a quick report....just got an e mail a few minutes ago from the guy I went to see in Hocking Hills OH,another meet is planned for Oct 4th and 5th...almost all Harley riders...gonna do my best to be there..If I hammer down can be there in three hours.last year they wanted to take a hack saw to my exhaust so they could hear it!!!! My bike is worth more in parts than as a whole unit.I still have the orginal exhaust...:-) kinda rare I am told. But it seems that a few of you still own,or did ride the bike....and still feel something towards it...I haven't had any negative coments yet so I am having some fun here and have enjoyed the posts I have read....You guys and gals are very open minded from what I have read...my partners bike... a Harley, she hasen't come around yet..........:-)

But if we were to find a '70 CB 750 Honda in good condition ....that would be her bike.

Click on the picture for a bigger size......I am not doing something right:-(
