I am wanting to add with and length (pull back) to my 07 RSMV.

I have risers but would like to have the bars much wider and be able to set back without reaching toward the bars.

 

If anyone has made this change, I wouls appreciate you letting me know how it turned out.

Also a part number and where you purchased them if possible

Jim,Shoot Big Shell an Email..he has done it..I THINK he took them off though. I sat on GaryNs bike and he had the Flanders bars and I am telling you they are GREAT. If I keep my bike I am going with the Flanders and new brake lines and throttle cable set (2 inch longer)up that buckeye performance has. ( When I say if I keep bike depemds on what Yamaha does with the future Venture. ). Tom

Jim, I thought you sat on mine at Colorado and decided that is the way you were going.

Anyway here is a writeup from the venturers site on how to install the flanders bars with info on what to buy from buckeye performance. Give them a call and they will help you with options. The bars pull back 2" and are just a little wider, don't know how much.

Yes I do remember you did have them on your bike.

I will look into them as I do want some extra room and a little wider.

 

Hope you are bracing for the storm down there.

My son is in Gulfport and he told me the Air Force is on "stand by" on the base.

He is part of the team to assist others with leaving if needed.

I'm running with the RSTD bars right now. They've got 2" more height, 2" more width' and 2.5 " more pullback then the stock RSV.

I like them for summer bars, but I'll have to see how I like that extra air on my hands when it cools down a bit. I'm still thinking about trying the RSTD bars with the risers just to see what that is like... just too many other projects right now. About the only ride time I get is back and forth to work!

What would be your recommendation.

I have the risers on now but I would rather have the bars placed whrer the rubber pads rest on the bars to keep the faring from moving.

I guess I am asking does the TD bars come back farther than using the risers?

How does it handle?

It seems to me the TD bars being wider would be more comfortable on a longer tirp.

You state you found them for around $90.00

I have only found them for $150.00 or so.

 

Any help and or advise will be appreciated.

I was ok with stock bars and risers, comfort-wise. I didn't like the way they hit the ignition cover and I think things look better mounted in the original position but those are small things compared to comfort.

 

I haven't tried the flanders, but they have the same height as stock and I liked the height the risers gave me. The RSTD bars are 2 inches taller than stock. I really wasn't looking for the extra width, but decided to try it.

 

I like the set up with the RSTD bars. My only concern is winter wind on the hands from the extra width. When it gets cooler, I'll put the wider Clearview shield back on. That might move most of the air around my hands. Won't know for a couple of months. Are they more comfortable than stock + risers? Best I can answer is they are at least as comfortable... probably more comfortable, but for me, there wasn't a huge difference. Handling is a little improved because you have more leverage with the extra width. One person said it was like adding power steering to his bike. I didn't notice that much change.

 

I think I still want more pullback. I may pull the bars down a little and see how that feels. I still want to try the RSTD + risers too. I installed the longer hoses and cables you need for the flanders (and you do need them for the RSTD bars) but I'm not sure that will be enough to do these bars + risers.

Since mine is an '05, I looked up the 2005 YAMAHA XVZ13CTTC/XVZ13CTT > Steering Handle Cable

 

While the bars are under $90, I found the RSV end weights don't fit. I ordered the end weights (end grip), bolts and end plugs. Total just under $153 + shipping.

The big cost is in the cables and hoses. I got mine from Buckeye. Told him I wanted the same cables that he sold for the the flanders upgrade or stock + at least 2"... which ever was longer. Flatout's shipping was pretty reasonable if I remember right. Call and see what they would charge for shipping, then call Rick and see if he can meet or beat Flatouts prices. Nice to get everything from one source if it works out.

 

Comfort is a personal thing. The best I can say is that so far (still thinking about cold air on the hands) this has been a good move for me and I don't want to go back... but I'm still searching for a little more pullback (at least I think I want some more). Wish I owned a good tubing bender!
