Will a VMax rear wheel fit?

More redneck engineering questions for you guys. Actually, for anyone that may have tried to or done this.

 

I need (want) a spare rear wheel for my '07 Venture. Even with used wheels I'm finding they are way expensive. But I can find VMax wheels for almost nothing. Looking at photos, OTHER THAN THE WHEEL STYLE, it LOOKS like the only difference is the rear brake rotor mounting is a different bolt circle diameter.

So, for anyone that has tried it... will it work if I get a VMax rotor? Is the spacing correct? Or will I have to let the moths out of the wallet?

That's a good question. I don't know. I've seen pics of 1st gen wheels modified to fit a VMX. But I don't know about what you're asking. Squeeze, you around?

I don't know much about the Dimensions of a 2nd Gen Wheel, but i know the Splines to the final Drive and the Axle Diameter are the same.

 

The rear Rotor on a Vmax is 282mm outer Diameter with 132 mm inner Diameter and a 6 Bolts Mounting Pattern with M8x25mm Bolts

Other than this, for what i have seen on a Lot of Pictures here, the 2nd Gen Rim looks very similar to a Vmax-Rim in the Hub Area.

Before I researched the possibilty of leveling up the RSV with shorter links, I first looked at changing out to a 1st gen 16" wheel. And yeah it will work but you will have to make an aluminum adapter to match the two different bolt patterns (wheel and rotor) but also to move the rotor out to match the caliper fitment. If it were me, I'd just go ahead and buy a used RSV wheel if you can find one. Outside of that, there are companies now making custom rims for the RSV.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I kinda had an idea that the spacing would be off on the rotor and probably the diameter. Oh well, I still have time to look for another RSV wheel before I need to replace the rear tire.

This wheel right here looks pretty good. Not too far from your neck of the woods. I've seen them go for more. You couldn't modify a VMX wheel for this.

If I can ever win a dang auction on ebay for a decent price that I want to pay. Stock Rear wheels are every where, I guess with folks installing Trike kits... with all kinds of prices...front stock wheels are no as plentiful.

Try RC COMPONENTS. I know they make customs wheels for the RSTD but not sure if the RSTD wheel will fit RSV.

no reply at all...I guess they have so much money they do not need any more... I think I will eventually get a set of used stock wheels off ebay and have them chromed
