saddlebum Posted October 22, 2008 Share #26 Posted October 22, 2008 I E-mailed dunlop and inquired about the elite threefor the front of the first Gen and this is the replie they sent me Ben - Thank you for the additional information. We are sorry to inform you that we are unable to bring this tire to the market at this time. As you probably already know, Dunlop maintains the highest standards of product performance are we are not satisfied with the performance of this tire on the older bikes which use this tire size. We will continue to develop this tire, but unfortunately, it will not be available for this summer's riding season. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this situation
Venturous Randy Posted October 22, 2008 Share #27 Posted October 22, 2008 Im needed new tires and was just gona go with elite 2 again, what is the advantage of this set up Randy? I went from Metzler ME880 to Avons and the improvement in handling was terrific. The bike handled like it weighed 200 pounds less. The only problem I encountered was a rear end wobble starting at speeds above 70mph. There have been many other 1st gen guys with Avons that experienced the same thing. When the Avon got down near the wear bars, I replaced it with an Elite III and have been very happy with the handling. To me, it made the bike handle more "neutral". With the Avon on the back, it made you feel like you were really dipping into a turn. I don't feel that way now. I will be replacing the front tire by spring time and if the Elite III is not available for the front, I will probably go with the Avon Venom again.
