bmannon Posted August 26, 2008 #1 Posted August 26, 2008 I was wondering where I can get headsets to plug into my '90 Royales Intercom/CB/Stereo system. I am new to the whole 'tourer' thing and dont even know what to look for. Thanks, Brian
sarges46 Posted August 26, 2008 #2 Posted August 26, 2008 Wing things usually has headsets with cords for a very reasonable price...around 60 bucks. Five pin is what you are after. Sierra Electronics as a bigger variety but cost more. If you are from Canada watch shipping (UPS,Fedex...brokerage fees). Dont buy expensive as the sound quality is not much better. We have just bought Edsets for Marilyns vstar. Expensive but a quality item and better sound and great to deal with.
Guest Brad25ca Posted August 26, 2008 #3 Posted August 26, 2008 Believe it or not, my local stealership had the IMC headsets in stock, $70 CDN. As much as I dread going to them, I'm never charged a shipping fee, or surcharge to order anything though them. You might want to check if they can get them for you, before ordering online, that would save you shipping & handling, and GST at the border.
MiCarl Posted August 27, 2008 #4 Posted August 27, 2008 We use J&M value headsets. They are $59 at wingstuff and sierra. Judging from the sound I hear from other bikes when I key up the CB the microphone is every bit as good as the earphones. They come in both open face and full face versions. Hands down better than the chatterbox headset I got with the Venture. They are at the bottom of this page: http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=326 Only downside to them is the mic on the full face model is rather deep, and requires cutting of the foam. On my FX helmet finding a spot in the chin bar deep enough was a challenge. On my wife's HJC CL-15 there is plenty of depth. They also want you to cut a hole in the foam for the headphones. In our helmets I removed the foam from the speaker and slipped them under the lining by our ears. Nice thing about the J&M 5 pin headsets is they include the hook up cord. Many other headsets require a separate cord purchase for your application.
bmannon Posted August 27, 2008 Author #5 Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I will be getting a set of the J&M value headsets.
