Many owners have found out the hard way that you should not put flags on the 2nd gen antennas (they will break). Just thought I would pass that on. :080402gudl_prv:

I fly larger 12" x 16" US and POW-MIA Flags off my trunk rack . Recently after I lost a mast (with smaller flag) due to my own fault by not checking the tightness , it unscrewed itself . Sledgehammer got this flag set for me about a year ago . So I went to look for a replacement , Tim forwarded the link to where he ordered them . Knowing that this retailer would not have just the mask , I called the distributor . Doing a search , I found http://www.cycleline.us/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=C&Product_Code=POLE&Category_Code=C4

Cheapest priced flip up flag set I have run across on the internet , $29.95 .

They said they did not sale the mast itself , but offered to send me a whole new sealed package and just pay shipping . Well , I told them it was my own fault that I lost the flag and mast and would graciously pay for a new one . They insisted me not too , so I took them up on their offer and bought another one .

Well since I wanted to fly larger flags than what was with the set (I get 12" x 16" flags wholesale) , I took the mounts of the 2 new flag sets , fabricated a bridge linking the 2 together . Drilled 3 holes for flag mast along with allen set screws for the post . So now I fly 2 flags and have another position to fly 3 if I want too later on . My camera is at the shop , so I cannot post photo right now .

I would not fly the flags off the antennas as many will suggest . The antenna for the RSV are over $100.00 each to replace .

A friend of mine warned me about losing masts and flags, especially with the type of fold-down mast that has the plastic chrome parts. The bottom part will just break if you aren't careful.

What I did was put a plastic wire tie around my trunk rack near the mast, another around the mast just under the flag, and a third connecting the two.

Now if the bottom part breaks and the flag falls off, the mast and more importantly, the flag will stay with the bike (yea, might put a few scratches in before I notice it, but it is an older bike).

Just my solution.

Thanks for the good posts guys!!!!

V7Goose-- thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of that. I have a mast I can mount on the trunk rack, but wasn't motvated to mount it. Now I am motivated.

I am not sure of the design on the Venture antenna's but I will check them out. I have flown flags on my GoldWing fold down antennas for almost three years, without any problems. I fly them at the very bottom of the mast near the pivot point. If the Venture antennas are similar it should work on them as well. A flag should never been flown higher on the antenna mast as it causes to much whipping and vibration and can loosen of damage the antenna. One of the better places I have dealt with for motorcycle flag poles is: http://m-j-enterprises.com/ reasonable prices and good people to deal with.
