Is there someone in the DFW area that is very familiar with the first gen (83)? My 83 has about 39,000 miles on it, seems to be very stock, and I am thinking that a progressive spring / seals update on the front end is about due, along with a Superbrace. But, I would like someone else that has lots of experience with this bike to ride mine to give an opinion! I can ride and meet someone within a couple of hours. Any takers?? Also, is there a group of Texas riders that meet somewhere? Where and when?! Thanks for your help!

You've got some fine members in your area that I am sure would be happy to help you out. Check with V7Goose or Rick Butler for starters. You can find both in the members list. Just send them a PM and I'm sure they will assist you.

Interesting, a 1st gen near me, lol. I have only mounted the Superbrace myself but had the springs installed for me.

Note that my name might be Rick, but I am not the Butler.

If yer out north of Dallas, let me know.

Taps,

If you bike has the original springs in it, the upgrade needs to be done. The stock springs will be broken down and if you have seal leaks then I would replace them. If they dont leak, then just install the front progressive springs. It's really not that hard, and I know that there are a few members close by you that would probably assist for perhaps an Ice Cream :whistling:

Good to know that the progressive springs and superbrace are the way to go--And, GigaWhiskey, I am in the Hurst/ Colleyville area-would love to meet ya to do some riding.

Squidley, I like the sound of a group of people that like eatin' ice cream, whether it is for work done or for fun!:ICwink: I can tell this is gonna be a great group to be a part of!

Your in the right spot Steve, just be careful, Giga posted up a maintenance day at his place and he was swamped with folks

 If you ever need help, just come on and ask for it. Most folks will come for just the ride to get there, but if you offer to feed or take care of their thirst...it'll sound like a heard of Elephants running to your door :yikes:
