loehring Posted August 22, 2008 #1 Posted August 22, 2008 I may have the chance to get a very sentimental 2007 Midnight Venture for around $8k. If I do I will be selling my '89. She had 104k on her but still a great running and looking bike. No where near the part out stage of life. The '07 has pretty minimal mileage (I don't know the exact number) Two questions, is $8k a good price and what is the '89 worth? Nothing is certain right now but I want to ask this group for opinions.
jburrell Posted August 22, 2008 #2 Posted August 22, 2008 If the bike is not crashed it should be worth about $12k judging by ebay. If it is a Venture. If it is rstd then quite a bit less but not $8k range. just my opinion since a 99 RSC sells for about $7k good luck on this purchase! Can I have his number lol JB
pegscraper Posted August 22, 2008 #3 Posted August 22, 2008 If that '07 is relatively low mileage and in good shape, 8 grand is a fantastic price. I'd jump if I could, before someone else sees it. Less sure on an '89, maybe $2000 - $2500? A local friend of mine sold an '89 a couple years ago for $2000, showing its age, but in decent shape for its age, too - plenty of life left.
loehring Posted August 22, 2008 Author #5 Posted August 22, 2008 Thanks for the help guys. I know the bike pretty well. It's owner was a very close friend who passed a few months ago. The bike is part of the estate and it would appear no one in the family wants it. Since it was so new he was upside down in the loan so it would just go back to the bank. Another close friend is the executor and has the bike in his garage. He called me and asked if I would like to buy it because he thought it would be fitting is it were to "stay in the family" as it were. He said he thinks the bank will settle for $8k to be rid of it. We both think our friend would love for his ride to stay with us rather than just being sold to anyone. I guess she's more sentimental to us than the family. I only asked about the value in case I need to take loan because I don't $8k cash to spend right now. I want the bike no matter how much but the better the price the better chance of getting the money. BTW. He was cremated and has a Ventureriders Guardian Bell hanging from his ern. We used to say that we knew there were bikes in Heaven or it would be hell. I know he's riding right now.
bongobobny Posted August 22, 2008 #6 Posted August 22, 2008 I agree it is a very good deal and you should take it providing you are ready to cross over to the dark side...
Squidley Posted August 23, 2008 #8 Posted August 23, 2008 Thats a great deal and I wouldn't hesitate a second more in getting it. Your '89, although sentimental to you I would give about the same estimate of $2500 maybe a bit more depending on condition. The way prices on the Ventures are going put it on ebay and you'd probably get $5K out of it
Yammer Dan Posted August 23, 2008 #9 Posted August 23, 2008 GRAB IT LAST Month so I could have had a shot at your 89!!! All the good ones going after I bought one. I would say your friend would feel good knowing where his it is.
loehring Posted August 23, 2008 Author #10 Posted August 23, 2008 Thanks again everyone. I'll let you know what happens. If I do end up with her I'll just have to find a way to make her run like a 1st Gen. Some may say that's impossible but you never know. I'll also post my '89 here before anywhere else. I know she'll be taken care of if someone from this group wants her.
