Snarley Bill Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Posted August 20, 2008 there is a controversy on the hub being in a dry county. not to worry we have three choices on beer and liquor for those who want it. 1) you can bring what ever you want with you when you come. 2) when you go on a ride you can. stop on the way back to the hub and bring what you want back with you ,thats what we did at vogel. 3) the owner of the hub said he would keep plenty iced down for us. can't elaborate on that cuz thats all he said and i did'nt ask any questions. so we will have beer one way or the other. no law against having or consuming it in a dry county you just can't buy it. i think you have to go about 23 mile from the hub to the beer store. eureka springs is not in a dry county. lots of people will probably go there to sight see. we could even have a beer run ride for those like me that like beer. bill

Sounds like it should be covered. Now Members AND their thirst can attend
sarges46 Posted August 20, 2008 #3 Posted August 20, 2008 I wasnt worried about the consumption nor getting "supplies". There is always a way to get around dry areas. It just means a little planning...like maybe a scheduled stop after a day ride to accomadate those that may need to replenish depleted stock. Thanks for clearing up any misconception though. You guys are doing a good job...now you have to think of that scheduled stop...lol.
Iowawegian Posted August 20, 2008 #4 Posted August 20, 2008 I have an apology to make! I'm afraid my teasing might have gone a little to far on the dry county thing. I honestly didn't even know there was such a thing as dry counties, ( I don't get off the farm very often can you tell?) so then I reved it up a little joking about the Corona! (Although I do like an ice cold one once in a while!!) I hope I didn't upset anyone, and if I did, I really am sorry! Everyone is going to have a great time at the rally, and I will tone down my teasing. You guys are doing a great job of planning this thing and we can't wait for it!!

There are dry counties and believe it or not the county in which the Jack Daniels distillery is located is a dry county, Lynchburg, TN. They can make it there, but they can not drink it there. Cheers or is that bottoms up? No wait that was the pond monsters and we don't like bottoms up!
nelsonrl Posted August 20, 2008 #6 Posted August 20, 2008 I live in the wetest dry county in the US. We can drink at restaurants, order wine over the internet for local delivery, but cannot purchase beer or wine in the county.
Iowawegian Posted August 20, 2008 #7 Posted August 20, 2008 So just out of curiosity....what is the point of having a dry county? Is it simply to try and cut down on the amount of consumption or is there a lot bigger explanation for this thing?

No off-sale of beer, wine, or spirits are allowed on Sunday's. However, you can drink yourself silly in a restaurant that serves. The point is Government control over our lives.
