Storminyte Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Posted August 20, 2008 I just got a 2008 Venture and absolutely love it! Great upgrade from the Suzuki C50. So, now I'm into the fun part...accessorizing! Georgia gets a bit hot and I've already ordered the lower vents for my legs but someone mentioned that they've seen a vented windshield. Does anyone have one?? If so, how do you like it and where did you find it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ride Safe... Dee Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Kregerdoodle Posted August 20, 2008 #2 Posted August 20, 2008 I do not have one yet, but they are made by Clear Veiw, there should be a link on here some place...
SaltyDawg Posted August 20, 2008 #3 Posted August 20, 2008 Just google clear view and you will find them. You can also put a vent into the stock windshield. I know RickH at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com used to sell the Gold Wing vents along with a template to install them onto the stock WS.
Squidley Posted August 20, 2008 #4 Posted August 20, 2008 Get the Clearview, it's a great product and if you have never put in a vent, trust me it isn't fun. The curvature of the G2 windshield will make it very hard to fit right. They are a preferred vendor to us and have donated to many of our projects. http://www.clearviewshields.com/
bgordon10 Posted August 20, 2008 #5 Posted August 20, 2008 I installed the Honda vent from http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ using the templet provided and it worked out great! if you would like pics I can send some!
ediddy Posted August 20, 2008 #6 Posted August 20, 2008 I am in southwest Georgia so I know the heat. The clearview shield is excellent. It not only has the vent but the shield sweeps back a couple more inches than the stock shield which helps with wind buffeting. I have the extra large clearview and it has eliminated all of the wind buffeting my wife used to get riding on the back. You won't go wrong with the clearview. We ride through Gray several times a year going to the mountains. Next time we are coming through I will try to give you a call.
Carbon_One Posted August 20, 2008 #7 Posted August 20, 2008 I have the Clearview shield w/vent and love it. As a former Suzuki Volusia owner congratulations on moving up to these great bikes. Yea the Vol/C-50's are a good bike but these RSV's can't be beat on the highways or for rider comfort. Have fun accessorizing the bike. Larry
heatonmt Posted August 20, 2008 #8 Posted August 20, 2008 just put the clear view on with vent is nice. Make sure and get the hight that is right I bought the med. and if I had to do over I would have went with the next size up. I am 5'8" tall. :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
flb_78 Posted August 20, 2008 #9 Posted August 20, 2008 I have a clearview with the vent. I likes it, I likes it alot. I bought mine off ebay. It's a blem. There's a tiny, tiny little air bubble in the shield. For the 50 bux I saved, I can live with it.
Vance Posted August 21, 2008 #10 Posted August 21, 2008 I have both a Clearview windshield with vent, and I have installed a Goldwing vent on my stock windshield. The only way to go. When the weather is real warm (like now) I ride with the stock windshield because it is not as wide at the Clearview, and allows a little more air on my arms. When the weather cools down, the Clearview goes on and does an excellent job. My wife prefers the Clearview because it gets rid of buffeting. Botom line, get the vent.
Steve S Posted August 21, 2008 #11 Posted August 21, 2008 I too have a Clearview shield with a vent. Due to the Warden and I both being tall, I bought the tallest shield they had and I absolutely love it. It is a great improvement over the stock shield. It takes a while to get one due to the backlog, but the wait is worth it. Some people have bought blems with good luck. They say that you really have to look to see the blemish and you save some money and a lot of time as they usually ship a blem right away. Heck, I've put about 7k miles on my shield since spring and I'm sure it has a blemish on it now. Makes me wish I had bought a blem. :bang head:
hig4s Posted August 22, 2008 #12 Posted August 22, 2008 I also have the Cleaview with vent.. Here in Florida a must.. makes a big difference. If you like to look through the windshield go ahead and get the XXL... it calms the air for the passenger a lot. The Clearview does shed rain better than the stock shield, but it still bothers some people. So if you need to be able to sit up and look over in in the rain you will probably need a med.
Storminyte Posted August 26, 2008 Author #13 Posted August 26, 2008 I just wanted to thank everyone for the all the information on the vented windshields. I think I'm going to take all the advice and get the XXL clearview vented. I'll let everyone know how it goes when it gets here. Eddie...feel free to give me a call when you come cruising through Gray to the Mountains...may want to tag along. Dee
brokespur Posted August 26, 2008 #14 Posted August 26, 2008 I have the medium clearview with the vent and tinted and that is the best thing i have done to the bike. It changed the feel of the bike all the way around. I live in jasper ga if you are in this area and want ot see it.
Mariner Fan Posted August 26, 2008 #15 Posted August 26, 2008 The wait for a Clearview is long! I ordered mine on June 27th and still haven't seen it. I've seen some of the blem windshields and they were nice. I think the descriptions sound alot worse than they are. Ask some of the guys here how they like the blem windshields if you want to get one this season.
Mariner Fan Posted August 26, 2008 #16 Posted August 26, 2008 Well I'll be darned. Had the Clearview on the porch when I got home from work! Sure looks good on the bike!
Sling Posted August 27, 2008 #17 Posted August 27, 2008 I just received my Clearview windshield this afternoon and I installed it, I ordered a "Blem" and you do get them much quicker. I ordered it 2 weeks ago. The reason it took 2 weeks was because they were out of vents and they were waiting on them to come in.. The description said slight scratches! Well it took me a while:think: but I did find the "slight" scratches. It looks great:thumbsup2:
Storminyte Posted August 27, 2008 Author #18 Posted August 27, 2008 Is there anywhere else on line that has the "Blem" Clearview windshield's?? I checked eBay and didn't have any luck there... Thanks... D:sun1:
Mariner Fan Posted August 27, 2008 #19 Posted August 27, 2008 Is there anywhere else on line that has the "Blem" Clearview windshield's?? I checked eBay and didn't have any luck there... Thanks... D:sun1: Go to the Clearview site. Click on the button that says "View Available Inventory". http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=65
Mariner Fan Posted August 27, 2008 #20 Posted August 27, 2008 Got to ride the bike with the new Clearview on it. Wow, what a difference! No more wind buffeting my big head. Well worth the cost.
