But if you need any parts for an 85 except for the gearbox I will be parting mine out when I get home.

Probably nothing good..... It usually means a recovery system, on some bikes a catalytic converter ang deffinitely an egr system. Although it may add a little weight and maintenance, that's about it.It's all green-useless crap thad does mothing for cleaner air since it reduces mileage. I usually take off the recovery cannister and toss it, plug the egr system and scrap the converter if it has one. If you do, make sure you don't leave any open vacuum lines.

I just know from my former life in auto parts, when the answer is "yes" to "is it a California car?" That means they have to special order it.

Or, you could ride to CA!

An 85 model with California emissions should still be fast enough to outrun an 86 model. If you can live with a certain 84 out in front then leave it alone.

As much as I hate to say it I think it is stronger than the "Blue Beast" was. Hummm....

You were proud of that bike once. Now it is all over?

I still love my 85 brownie but the output shaft gear out the back of the trans is totally gone and locked up twisting off the drive at the ujoint causing big repair bill. So it is time for a new scoot. it only had about 38ooo miles and all the plastic is in great shape with no cracks or scratches but my clearcoat is coming off the trunk and top of bags, so if ya need something give me a message in about a week when I get home from VW IV.
