Come one come all for an Ontario Fall Colour Ride. Enjoy a kaleidoscope of colour along some of Northern Ontario’s most picturesque roads. I am planning this as a two day event. Leaving Sat, Oct 4 and returning Sun Oct 5

Kick stands up Saturday morning traveling back roads along the Trent Waterways northeast to Bancroft the heart of the Kawartha’s . Day one you can expect to ride twisty roads along quiet lakes, deep forests, enjoy a hearty breakfast @ Burleigh Island Lodge, http://www.burleighislandlodge.com/world-class-dining-in-the-kawarthas/

Sample Kawartha Dairy ice cream, the best in all the land (you be the judge). Late afternoon will find you enjoying a relaxing dip in the indoor pool or shooting pool with your riding buddies at the Best Western Sword Motor Inn http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do

Day two starts early with breakfast at the hotel then we are off riding northward from the Kawartha’s through Algonquin Park to the Muskoka's along scenic Hwy 60 http://www.algonquinoutfitters.com/info_pics_pro.html A camera is a must for this part of the ride. The Muskoka's is a land of many lakes and million dollar cottages a play ground of the rich and famous. If your passenger suffers from motion sickness you might want to include some Gravol in your kit as we descend out of the Canadian Shield to arrive back at the start.

This is an extremely popular time of year so accommodation is dear and scarce. The Best Western Sword Motor Inn has about 20 rooms left so if you would like to participate in this event you have to book now.

Room rates start @ $127.99 +tax Single Queen Bed minus 10% with Venture Riders group rate.

I’m sharing a double Queen room with another couple for $142.19 / 2 = $71.10 my cost

Contact information

Best Western Sword Motor Inn

Reservation Call: 1-866-226-2763

Arriving Sat, Oct 4 Departing Sunday Oct 5

The owner is extending the AAA/ CAA 10% discount rate to all who mention the Venture Riders.

To participate in this event you must have accommodation in Bancroft for Saturday night. The Best Western has a 48 hr. Cancellation policy.

Hi Gary, I'm making it easy on myself by starting from my place Stouffville Ontario just 10 min north of Markham. Thought we could leave by 9:30 to catch the breakfast crowd, but that could be negotiated if there are a number of distance riders coming in.

Considering I sent you the reminder, we will definetly try and be there. May just shoot over in the morning, like the last time.

Don't be disapointed, book your hotel now. I not kidding about accomadation being tight. I almost canceled this trip due to it being difficult to find accomadation for more than one room. It will be great to see you all again.

We will be there. Dianne has told them she wants the time off work so we will see what happens.Hope the weather is better than last year?????

Hey Steve - this looks like it will be doable.

I just have to check with the boss after work tonight, in case she has something planned for that weekend.

Cheers,

P.S. Room has been booked!

Hey Steve - can you recommend a hotel/motel nearby for those that want to come into your neck of the woods on the Friday evening?

Just did a Kayak search for Stouffville, the Stouffville Inn is small, but if all you want is a bed for the night they quoted me $67.00 plus tax for a single queen.

Thanks Steven. Have booked a room at the Inn...

Congrats, hope it is everything you were planning for. My wife told me I couldn't retire before she did. So I'll just have to continue rehearsing retirement for a couple more years.

What ever you philosphy, be quick, don't procrastinate cause we would love to show you where the paved roads are in the north.

All kidding aside it would be great to ride with you this season.

I told you that one day I would like to prove to you that not all of Ontario is flat, alas it is not meant to be this day. Perchance we can dream of that day to be.:cool10:

TFD, my wife and I from TPS have just booked our room. The receptionist said there where only a few rooms left.

We look forward to meeting everyone Saturday morning and we'll get directions from you later. We are heading up north to our spot in the Kawartha's for the long weekend.

Have a great final summer weekend.
