Clutch slave rebuild

Recommended Posts

I called 2 local Yami dealers and each told me that I needed a different kit. One said the kit was several items that totaled about $50 and the second told me that alls I needed was teh 2 seals for the slave kit if I was dealing with a small leak. I am dealing with a small slow leak but want to make sure I change out the right items. Is the 2 seal changes enough typically??

On another note I won a set of RK pipes yesterday fro $16.50 yesterday and they are local to me. So I will get to add them as soon as I arranage for the fitting I need from our member who is selling them. My clearview arrived yesterday so I guess I can give gunboat his shorty windshield back. Thanks for letting me borrow it gunboat!! I out of town at the moment at sons house in RoundRock Tx but hoping I can get my biek back on the road and take a ride next weekend.

have a great weekend everyone

Thanks to Gunboat (and all responders on this site) we have completed a rebuild of my clutch slave. Pergscaper was right you can get to the clutch slave by just removeing the back coner (middle gear) and this allows you access to the bolts of the clutch slave. If you then take the wire ties off some wires that are in your exit path you can move the wires down and wiggle the slave clutch out. There are 2 botsl that hold it in and of course you have to remove the banjp bolt. One note on putting back the slave you may find you have a problem getting the banjo bolt to realign properly. IF so look under the bike and make sure the cluch cable is running in the guide provided for it and suddenly the bolt will align. We found this out the hard way. The bolt would start in and then act like it was crossthreaded. Once we aligned the cable correctly underneath the bolt slid right in place. We then use a power bleeded tool to bleed the system and was done in not time. WEll a couple of hours..not bad for a first timer. Again I thank you all for your replies comments and assistance and I especially thank Gunboat for taking time from his day to help. Now the clutch is fixed the switch issues is addressed and and I have a new Cleaview windshield.Got my radio set to a station I like and now I just need the time to add the new RK mufflers. First things first though.. Gotta ride this this thing the next 2 weeks and one trip is to Bandera Tx to the Three Sisters (THREE NICE TURNS IN THE HILL COUNTRY). The local starrider group is have a gathering there in 2 weeks so I am gonna do my best to make it.

WoooHoo My wife has agreed to ride with me and bought a new helmet and she mentioned she wished we had a TRIKE. Told her we could make that happen. More on that later though.

Thanks again everyone

glad to been able to help you on the clutch, learned a few things while doing it. now ready to do my clutch slave cylinder when needed. thanks to all for the input. found out you do not have to remove all the stuff the service manual says you have too. thanks james-jburell ( for buying the vac / bleed tool sure saved a lot of time).
