Peacemaker pipes

Just saw these. These are quiet pipes, but when you want loud, you flip the switch and they turn into straight pipes. Kinda neat. Really pricey though.

I'm not crazy about the look, not really a fan of the tapered tips but I found some other pictures and it looks like they don't use those tips on the ones for the FLH and FLT models. Those should adapt easily to our RSV just as the Road Kings do.

I actually like the idea. I tried something similar with stock RSV mufflers back in '99 just after I bought mine but it was a manual modification and didn't sound good.

 

I may actually try these someday when I have an extra $600.00 laying around.

Actually this is not a new idea. Early Harley Davidson's had only a straight pipe (one cylinder), noise complaints by towns folk were numerous and eventually Harley made a manually operated valve that would port the exhaust through a muffler. When a ride came into town he could flip the valve and quietly rumble through. Then open it up when he hit the open road.

Well, back in the 60s I used to have a set of $10 Snuff-or-Nots on my Honda 305 scrambler that did the same thing - flip a knob and the pipes quieted right down. That was a bit more economical.
