sarges46 Posted August 12, 2008 #1 Posted August 12, 2008 Anyone have any experience with installing this thing? What would be a good "switchable" point to hook up the power. I should turn on and off with a turn of the key so as not to drain the battery if its left on.
calperin Posted August 12, 2008 #2 Posted August 12, 2008 I installed mine on my Royal Star. No problems at all so far, and has been more than 5 months already Follow the instructions about where to hoock the connections, never straight to the ground as they said, avoid a lot of noise. Regards,
calperin Posted August 12, 2008 #3 Posted August 12, 2008 I tooked from the instruments panel, so it will turn up with the key, that is correct.
sarges46 Posted August 12, 2008 Author #4 Posted August 12, 2008 Thanks Carlos. Now for the hundred dollar question....is it the blue wire...I believe all the yammis are wired the same dating back to 1645 or something!
sarges46 Posted August 12, 2008 Author #5 Posted August 12, 2008 Just reading some other stuff relating to wiring and it appears its the brown wire for switched power.
calperin Posted August 14, 2008 #6 Posted August 14, 2008 Yes, the brown is the power. All that you need to be sure is about how do you ground the equipment. That will be the threasure to don't get any noise. Regards, Carlos
sarges46 Posted August 14, 2008 Author #7 Posted August 14, 2008 Got it done Tuesday night. Took off the fuel tank to run and hide all the wires. Hooked it up to the chocoltae wire I found....didnt work. Hooked it up to the lighter brown and it works. Now I am waiting for the edsets I ordered so i can test the thing for noise et al. Thanks for the tip.
