Battery replacement????

83 Venture Royale.

I would like to replace the battery with a new sealed gel type. Can it be done so that the battery fluid low indicator is not showing all the time???? Has anyone ever done this before? The probe that goes down into the battery has never been the right size since the battery was replaced a few years ago. The probe is smaller than the cap that you take off to install the probe so is there any way to just remove the probe and to turn off the indicator on the display???????

I've done exactly that with my 84 VR.

The battery works like a champ and the red light stays off.
