Thistledown Posted August 12, 2008 #1 Posted August 12, 2008 I understand that the idle speed should be set to 1000 RPM. Other than not stalling, is there a reason for this? Suggestions on an inexpensive tachometer to but to set this the RPM, been doing it by ear Thanks
Squidley Posted August 12, 2008 #3 Posted August 12, 2008 I dont know if there is a specific reason other than possibly loading up the plug. I do know a few that set the idle to a lope as it sounds a bit meaner with aftermarket pipes
V7Goose Posted August 12, 2008 #5 Posted August 12, 2008 Personally, I prefer the sound and feel of the engine idling about 700 - 800, but don't do it. The biggest concern is to keep enough hot oil pressure at idle, so don't go below the spec. Goose
