Fvogt Posted August 11, 2008 #2 Posted August 11, 2008 This could be raw gas getting into the exhaust system or a lean condition caused by: carbs not seated correctly, vacuum leak of some sort. Fred
GigaWhiskey Posted August 11, 2008 #3 Posted August 11, 2008 Do the diaphragms have pinholes in them? Did you tighten all four screws for each diaphram? Miss one, you might just get that backfire.

Dano Posted August 12, 2008 #11 Posted August 12, 2008 Do you have the airbox and filter installed? These bikes do not like to have unrestricted air.
sarges46 Posted August 12, 2008 #12 Posted August 12, 2008 Thank you for the link found all 9 pins cracked resoldered put back together still reads e4 now im stumped any thoughts??????????? Redo them...this time do all the pins in the thing...both boards. I had to on mine...second time I didnt even bother looking for bad ones...I just did em all. Worked great.
Squidley Posted August 12, 2008 #14 Posted August 12, 2008 Dave, Where abouts in Warren are you? I work in Pontiac and live in Marine City. If you like I could stop over and give you a hand.
6m459 Posted August 14, 2008 #15 Posted August 14, 2008 I have always found that backfiring on my Venture was cured when any leaks in her exhaust system were fixed. How is your exhaust sytstem ? Hope this is of some help / interest. Brian H. Uxbridge Ont
Captain Murph Posted August 14, 2008 #16 Posted August 14, 2008 Redo them...this time do all the pins in the thing...both boards. Most of the others that still don't work will if you carefully redo every single pin on that board. It is not that hard, but please make sure you aren't doing it with a soldering gun but a lower wattage (40-75W) pencil iron. Some of the other other components on the board might get damaged if you get things too hot. Good luck. While it is no guarantee, I will repeat again that these CLASS BOARD problems seem to be caused by component connnections not component failures.
Jus Monkeyin Around Posted August 14, 2008 Author #17 Posted August 14, 2008 Correct my iron is 25 watt worked out beautifully Thank You I love it when a plan comes together!!!!!!!!!
