BigBear Posted August 10, 2008 #1 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm a **new** Venture owner, and I'm looking for some recommendations on what kind/type of highway pegs are "made" for a 2008 model?
BuddyRich Posted August 10, 2008 #2 Posted August 10, 2008 You will want to get the lower wind vents for when its hot. I use Kuryakyn Long Horns. The are adjustable in a lot of different ways.
vipermax07 Posted August 10, 2008 #3 Posted August 10, 2008 i have the kuryakyn long horn off sets that provide a great range of adjustment. you need the one inch bar clamp kit. 7980 // $149.99 there is the part number and list price from kuryakyn's web site. enjoy the ride
BigBear Posted August 10, 2008 Author #4 Posted August 10, 2008 Thanks for the feedback! Got any pics that show the pegs, and where your mounted them?
KeithR Posted August 10, 2008 #5 Posted August 10, 2008 Some pic's I just took of my pegs. I installed them while at the rally in Kitchener and was very happy to have them on the trip home. Mine are not longhorns tho. Keith
Squidley Posted August 10, 2008 #6 Posted August 10, 2008 All depends on what you want to spend, I bought these off JC whitney and they are a nice set of pegs for a reasonable price. http://www.jcwhitney.com/CUSTOM-MOUNT-ELLIPTICAL-RAIL-FOOT-PEGS/GP_2002576_N_111+10211+600014710_10111.jcw The Kuryakyn are nice pegs too, but are almost 3 times the price. Call me cheap, but that is 75 more dollars in my bikes gas tank and still having a nice set of pegs
adventurer 08 Posted August 10, 2008 #7 Posted August 10, 2008 picked up mine from jc whitney also. good pegs for the buck!!!!!
BigBear Posted August 10, 2008 Author #8 Posted August 10, 2008 All; Thanks for the feedback! Got what I was looking for (and a whole lot more!) What a great bunch of folks! KeithR - Thanks for the pics! BuddyRich - My dealer wasn't much help in telling me where the lower wind vents get mounted. Can you help?
sarges46 Posted August 10, 2008 #9 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) Vents fits in the lower cowling. At least it has the shape of the outer edge of it. It clamps on the top part of the lower crash bar. Heres some pics from another members post. http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=19188&d=1214686746 Edited August 10, 2008 by sarges46 new link added
KiteSquid Posted August 11, 2008 #10 Posted August 11, 2008 Which mounts you purchase depends on your inseam. and how much bend in your knees you like.
Mariner Fan Posted August 11, 2008 #11 Posted August 11, 2008 These are basic kuryakyn's. I think you can get a set for around 50 bucks. I bought mine from one of the guys here so I'm not sure of the price new. I'm long in the legs so they fit me pretty well. http://cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users16/marinerfan/default/Pegs_001--gallery-msg-12184699041.jpg http://cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users16/marinerfan/default/Pegs_003--gallery-msg-12184699099.jpg
BigBear Posted August 11, 2008 Author #12 Posted August 11, 2008 Yeah....I'm 6'3 so I've got some longer legs as well! So having some "highly adjustable" pegs would be a huge benefit. Thanks for the data!
Mariner Fan Posted August 11, 2008 #13 Posted August 11, 2008 Walt, the reason that my pegs are much cheaper than the longhorns is that they aren't very adjustable. I'm the same height as you are and these allow me to stretch my legs out when mounted this way. A shorter rider would have to reverse the mounting to even reach the peg.
Sterling Turner Posted August 11, 2008 #14 Posted August 11, 2008 "Carbon One" has a posting on here somewhere, that addresses crash bar supports. I highly recommend that you make a set for your bike if you are going to install highway pegs... It takes the forward flex out of the bars when you are using the pegs. Easy to make and works great !!!!! Sorry that I'm not smart enough to post a link so you can go right to it.

Price is right and I have enough variation in foot position to satisfy me.
StarRider07 Posted August 11, 2008 #17 Posted August 11, 2008 I'm a **new** Venture owner, and I'm looking for some recommendations on what kind/type of highway pegs are "made" for a 2008 model? Hi Walt. Although I do not have these on my bike, I rode a Venture with these highway floorboards. Totally awesome. They are expensive however the comfort is so worth it. It has a ridge for your heal to rest on. I will be getting these. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=honda&ci=2777
