Actually, it took us about two hours to get home and that also included stopping at Waffle House for breakfast.

We had a really great Asheville Rally. Lots of good curvy roads, good food, good weather and good friends. The only thing with the weather was this area had three days of record high temps. On our trip to Mt Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi, it was 72 degrees on top of the mountain, which was about 10 degrees above normal. It was 82 degrees by the time we came down to the Blue Ridge Parkway and when we dropped off the mountain to Marion, NC, it was 98 degrees. It was hot. When the cool front moved in, we expected rain with it, but did not get it. Our morning temps for the first couple of days was about 70, but on Friday morning it was 53 degrees. Those extra covers in our little camper felt real good.

Like most on here, I will post some pictures later.

Yep, it was great seeing all again.

BBQ was good Friday night, thanks 1Rooster for buying and putting this one together.

Saturday was a great riding day, then a bunch of us went to Texas Road House.

We won't talk about the waitress called "Touch" :whistling:

and of course the pics are coming.

Thank you Mini for putting this meet together. WoW we had a great time. Keep an eye on the Muffinman cause he is going to blimp up quick with all those banana splits that are owed to him.:missingtooth: Really Jeff, thanks for the help.

It was really great finally meeting everybody and being able to put the names to faces. Rooster you are a Hoot, thanks for the BBQ it was good, especially the next day when the beans had a chance to ferment. Just ask Krome Rose, I left a cloud for her to walk through entering the hotel room. She thought my shoes had gone bad.

Anyway we got in around 5 after a very pleasant ride home. Actually got back an hour quicker than it took to get to Asheville.

hey, where did everyone go? today is the 10th and we still want to ride.:bawling:

Bongobob and Mother with their spouses did the 1Rooster run up I-80, what a road, some 1st gear turns then back up to 4th then back down to 1st and so on. eeee haw.:D

we went up to mount mitchell today and had lunch up top, tallest mountain around here at 6,500 feet or so. we then came back down I-80 (eeehaw again) and went to a town called Marion to check it out.

back at the hotel now having a swim and a cold liquid beverage, still no bikes in the parking lot.

i guess we will have to start heading home tomorrow, first stop will be Tail of the Dragon and then head north.

cheers, Scott

I hardly know what to add. This was one of the best meets I've been to.

Renewed some old friendships and made some new friends.

Randy kept saying "Here's the plan for today" and things went down hill from there. Very loose meet and everything turned out great.

Rode a lot of nice roads, just as good as the Dragon if not better and they seem to be everywhere. Even the parking lot at the Texas Roadhouse was a challenge. I'm surprised we didn't have a big pile of scrap in the entrance.

I think I did see one disappointed person, "Skid" Try as hard as he could he couldn't get anyone to challenge "Brown Sugar".

What a great week,

Jerry

Forgot to mention, I'm not at home yet. I'm in Scottsburg, IN for the evening. Don't you know it takes us older guys longer to do some things.

Becky and I arrived home around 2-ish yesterday . The eats at the steakhouse in Cherokee did not sit well with Becky . She is still feeling the effects from the buffet . Other than that , only wished we had more time to spend at the rally . Didn't get to say all the good-byes to everyone , but look on the bright side , we'll see ya sometime here real soon ! Thank to everyone there for putting up with my sorry 'ole azz !

Hit rain on the last 10 miles from home .

I must be one of the last ones home except for maybe ceedoo.

I arrived a little after 3 CST this afternoon, 2,666.2 miles.

Was going to take a look at the rear tire when I got home but I forgot to. Still has air so it must still be good to go.

Forgot to mention, on the way to the airport on Sunday morning, a car turned in front of me in my lane, just a couple of hundred feet later I just missed a big O hunk of pipe by a few inches. Looked like a piece of the exhaust system from a semi, a big piece. Of course I couldn't see it because of the car running so close to me.

It sure was good to be back in the Chicago traffic. We have 50 times more traffic up here and I would rather ride in it anytime then 5 minutes in the traffic down in Asheville.

I just called Thom440 and he made it back to Florida last night. He said he has not been able to post as he does not have internet yet and has not been able to get a wifi connection anywhere. I was getting a bit worried about him as he is not usually at a loss for words.
