Carburator boots??

Unbolt them. Clean the surface on the heads. Bolt the new ones down.

the way i understanded it these boots crack on the rubber coating. this coating just covers the aluminum sleeves. and is no concern / no air leaks or performance issuses. there is a post some were in the archives on this. i think it was goose and he had posted some pitcures. mine are cracked all so. hope this helps.

There are O-Ring Seals, where they bolt to the Heads.

Its advisable to replace the O-Rings.

Some folks have said it was still leaking with new O-Rings, so he

used Sealant in addition to the New seals.

 

I haven't done this job, so can't say for certain. But if you are having leakage

problems, might be worth considering.

The 2nd gen intake boots do not have removable O rings. The 1st gens do, and the V Maxes do. His '99 will not.
