halfwitt Posted August 8, 2008 #1 Posted August 8, 2008 Hey West-by-God-Virginians, My wife and I are riding to a B&B in Smoke Hole, WV in Seneca Rocks State Park. We'll probably go second week of Sept for a couple of days. The website for the B&B warns about sudden storms and dense fog. Does anyone know this area and the real risks of getting bad weather in September? Anyone want to tag along?
Tombo Posted August 9, 2008 #2 Posted August 9, 2008 (edited) Did a ride two weeks ago from Manassas, VA through WVa to Columbus, OH. The ride on Rt. 33 from Harrisonburg, Va to Smoke Hole is amazing. If you can include either on the way in or out, I think it would be well worth your time. At that time of year I imagine that morning fog is a possibility in the mountains but the thunderstorm season should be winding down. I don't think it will be much different than what you get in the mountains in PA. If I hook up with you for the MD-PA preview ride we can talk some more. Tombo Ride on... Bigfoot Posted August 9, 2008 #3 Posted August 9, 2008 I'm in Va. not too far from Seneca Rocks area. Beautiful area for riding. I don't believe the fog and such will be any worse than any other mountainous area. You'll have a blast.
cecdoo Posted August 9, 2008 #4 Posted August 9, 2008 Been in that area a few times, it is beautiful, you are gonna have a great ride, 33 is a nice road but be careful, some nasty turns. you really ought to take a ride up to Snowshoe mtn. and Highland scenic highway. Craig
