This is what happens when you push youre bike to drag the floors or pegs. In this case he pushed at the wrong section of the curve and front wheel lost contact so rear tire pushed him into the gaurd rail. This is a good friend of mine and is a good rider he just got careless but is lucky to have walked away. The bike however will have to have a front rim, front finder, and new forks. Not sure if I put this in the right place but I thought we can all learn from not only our own but others mistakes. PLEASE RIDE SAFE!

Wow, hope he gets feeling better soon.

This is actually a big part of why I like to drag my floorboards, even around a corner where I wouldn't really need to, so that I know the maximum lean angle of the bike and hopefully can keep from ever going beyond it.

maybe I am too wussy but I get nervous when the pegs scrape.

In the three weeks I've been riding as a returning rider, I've made one curve where I was leaning so far as to feel the toe of my size 14 steel toed boot gently scrape the ground. I said to myself, "Self", says I, "I might possibly be going just a tad too fast. I might ought to back out of it just a hair." This time, I listened to myself and all was well in Wayne's World.;)

Wearing size 14's on a 1st gen, I regularly "scrape" the toes on my left boot, just don't feel like I'm turning if I don't. Kinda like an early warning system. Can't figure it out tho', harder for me to dip it down to the right. Does save my pegs, anyway!!

That curve he went through, I can see why it went over. Tite to the left, with a dip in the middle, beautiful to ride, can be tricky!

where is that curve, shes a beauty

Leeds, AL Hwy 25 leading to 29 Dreams motorcycle resort, I have to say he was very lucky, I had some friends that wiped out on the same curve going slower than he was and they had to leave in a ambulance--- yamahamer Is he going to retire the shirt? How about the saddle bag fixable? Scott

OHH YEA! The shirt is nailed to the wall at his house. For those who don't know 2 weeks ago in another curve a rabbit ran under his back wheel and sent him into a ditch and totaled his v-star 1100. He was wearing the same shirt!:yikes:

must be somehing different with my scoot...I've had her leaned so far over I'm sure I could kiss the ground....never scraped anything.

:sign just kidding:

I wonder how we could scrape the pegs on a 1st gen when the crash bars stick out further than they do?? I've never scraped the pegs but I have felt my (ahem...size 9) boot scraping the ground.

I test rode an RSTD about 3 years ago and that was the one thing I didn't like... it was so easy to scrape the floorboards.

Actually looks like your friend came away very well considering what could have happened. I guess I'm getting old and "wussy" but I just don't care about scraping anything on the road anymore. I also find that I can take r.h. curves easy and smooth, but l.h. curves always cause me concern. Any ideas why? KEEP IT NICE!!

I got passed by 3 crotch rockets in this same curve last weekend. This is only about a mile from 29 dreams. When I saw them I let them know they didn't impress me any and I hoped they had their organ donor cards up to date, they would need them sooner than later.
