Can anyone help me with this problem.....my class for my 1983 VR is'nt working at all. Even when the key is in the correct position it just does'nt come on. Any ideas what the problem might be? Does anyone out there have a spare one they would like to trade for? I have quite a few parts so I might have something that you're looking for. Is there anyone close to Temple, Tx. who could help with the problem? As always.....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you getting any Error codes, or is it just a blank screen? Also, did it ever work or this a new2U bike?

I'd like to know what you find out, as mine was working just fine last fall, tore the bike apart to paint and when I got it all back together I get the screen and an occasional e2 erroror maybe it is the e1 error and don't know what taht means or how to fix it. Have competed the resolder due to the e4 message. Any ideas on what I need to do to fix the problem would be great.

I've had the bike for about 4 1/2 years now and I was getting an error 3 code but now it does'nt do anything.......won't even power up. It just stopped working all of a sudden. The connections look ok to me but I'm not one to mess with wires either. I'll be pulling all the plastic off for a paint job soon. Maybe something's loose that I can't see......

The "spmething's loose" may be a broken solder connection on the main connector inside the unit where it mounts to the circuit board, or a connector in the unit. If you have a friend who has electronic skills perhaps he or she can resaolder all the co nnections for you. This is the most common reason for the class units to malfunction...

I went through mine a couple weeks ago and found about all of the old solder joints bad. I simply resoldered all joint with some new silver solder and she works like new again. The tech section showing the e4 code fix shows about seven joints to re-do, but do them all.

I'd check the easy things first... the power and control plugs. Unplug and plug them several times and see if things clear up. If that doesn't work then like Bob says it's a resolder job. Not really that hard. The CLASS control can be disassembled very quickly. The points that need to be resoldered are the connections to the power wires and those between the PCboards.

Amen!

I've brought 3 of these back from the dead in the last year; the last one did not work with all the "typical connector" joints resoldered.

I figured I had nothing to loose, so I carefully did every one on the board. It works like a charm. I have another controller that I will do this week and, if it too comes back to life, I'll be putting it on Ebay.

Thanks to every one for all of the help......I'd like to help others if I can. I have a few parts laying around if someone's looking. Let me know and I'll gladly help if I can!:bighug:
