StarRider07 Posted August 2, 2008 #1 Posted August 2, 2008 Let me start by saying I HATE GRAVEL. I get pretty uneasy when I have to go on gravel. Last Sunday I, along with others, pulled into a golf course in Alder Flats in Alberta. The drive enterance and lot was gravel. A thick bed of gravel with everything from fine stuff to little rocks around 1 inch. I took my time and was only doing about 10km per hour. There was a couple bikes ahead of me and one moved over in my path while in a slight left turn. No big deal as I had enough room however I touched the back brake. Because of the gravel, it didn't take much for the back wheel to lock and started to slide out to the right. I countered and then my hand hit the throttle boss. Well that bike went to the left real fast and threw me down. Broke right ankle and a cracked rib. Because of embarrasment and the adrenalyn rush, I actually got up and picked the bike up. After that, I don't think I missed out on any swear words in the adult dictionary. Anyway, the only damage is a scratched up lower cowling on the right side and could see at least one broken plastic piece where it screws onto the bike. I need a new one or at least one in very good shape as the bike is still new (crying now). As it states in my sig, the bike is a 2007, blue in color. Does anyone have one? Where can I find one? Anyone have any links? I have googled and checked ebay with no luck. Any and all help and or suggestions would be appreciated very much. Thanks P.S. This really sucks.
Carbon_One Posted August 2, 2008 #2 Posted August 2, 2008 Sorry to hear of your mishap. Heal quickly and by the time it does you'll have the bike ready to go again. Larry
Bummer Posted August 2, 2008 #3 Posted August 2, 2008 Adrenaline can make people do things they shouldn't. Get better soon!
cecdoo Posted August 2, 2008 #4 Posted August 2, 2008 Yep I hate gravel too, sorry to hear of your spill, heal quick. Craig
StarRider07 Posted August 2, 2008 Author #5 Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks guys. The Percocet really helps. Does anyone have one? Where can I find one? Anyone have any links?
Freebird Posted August 2, 2008 #6 Posted August 2, 2008 I'm really sorry to hear about the accident. I always hate hearing about one of our own going down. As for the parts, that may be a tough one. Chances of finding a crashed '07 in that color without that part being damage will be tough. I know that Pinwall is parting out a blue '07 right now. He doesn't have that particular part listed in his Ebay store so odds are, it was damaged but it wouldn't hurt to give him a call. Here is the number. (330)879-9910 Tell him that Don Nelson from VentureRider sent you. That way he may raise the price.

skydoc_17 Posted August 3, 2008 #9 Posted August 3, 2008 HI GREG, SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MISHAP. I PERSONALLY DON'T OWN A SECOND GEN. SO I DON'T KNOW IF I AM LOOKING AT THE RIGHT PART OR NOT BUT SOUTH SEATTLE SPORTS HAS THE PARTS DIAGRAMS FOR YOUR BIKE AND I HAVE DEALT WITH THEM BEFORE AND GOT GOOD SERVICE. THEY ARE CHEAPER THAT MY LOCAL STEELER. IF I AM LOOKING AT THE RIGHT PART THEY HAVE IT LISTED FOR $144.47 IN YOUR COLOR. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE SHIPPING WOULD BE BUT IT IS A NEW PART. HERE IS A LINK TO THE WEBSITE. BY THE WAY, I HATE GRAVEL ALSO! http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx HOPE THIS HELPS, EARL AND JEAN.

Thanks for the link. I found it under XVZ13TFW ROYAL STAR VENTURE. It is under Cowling 2 and the part is: SKU: 4XY-2835K-01-PA BODY, FRONT UNDER 2 DPBML - Color Info (DPBML:DARK PURPLISH BLUE METALLIC L:0865) DPBML - Color Info (DPBML:DARK PURPLISH BLUE METALLIC L:0865) Again, thank you very much. I will call the dealer on Tuesday to get their price and then compare with Seattle's price and shipping. I thought they would be more expensive. Heck, I don't think I could get mine fixed and repainted for that price.
StarRider07 Posted August 3, 2008 Author #12 Posted August 3, 2008 Thanks to everyone for your kind words and your help. I hope that I can be of some help soon. And please,,,,,,,,,,, EVERYONE,,,,,,,,,,, be careful out there and keep your eyes open. Ride safe and enjoy the rest of the riding season.
Blackjack Posted August 4, 2008 #13 Posted August 4, 2008 Sorry to hear of your unfortunate gravel experience. I hope your ankle heals thoroughly and quickly and that you are up and at 'em again real soon... Terry
sarges46 Posted August 5, 2008 #14 Posted August 5, 2008 You going to do fine ordering from Seattle or the sportcenter in Texas. Both are fine dealers to get stuff from. And their prices cant be beat by any Canadian dealer. I know, I dont by Canadian parts anymore unless it was an emergency. Hope that ankle heals up fast...
