1) Do you deal with a squeaky front brake? If so, how do you fix it?

 

2) Does anyone have the Clearview Shield? I am curious about the one 4" shorter than stock, and if there is increased buffeting for either yourself, or your passenger. I am looking at the shorter one so I can see over it if I need to. The stock one is just too high for me, and here in Alabama, it gets dang hot in the summer time, a little wind in the face would be nice. :225:

My experience is that squeaky brake is usually dust, so i go to the spray wash and gently flush a bit of water on the rotor and against the friction pad surface being careful not to spray your bearings or any rubber fittings on the wheel or forks.

 

I will be putting a new clearview with the vent on my 85 1st gen later today but I ordered the tallest one from them as I felt I was getting buffetted all the time at highway speeds. I couldnt even hear my stereo (which is louder than OEM) because of the wind noise.

Plus I HATED getting those big greasy hoppers right on my cheek or in the middle of the visor on the full face helmet.

1. I heard that if you take the pads off, rub them face down on the cement or rough pavement, then put them back on - squeak go buh-bye. I have not done this myself, this was shared and several rallied in a circle of discussion at stardays08.

 

2. I have the tall Clearview, with vent, tinted - love it. Plenty of wind in face, if it is still too hot for ya - getting a cooling vest - best thing I have ever bought!

Thanks Brian. The shield I am looking at is still tall enough where you would be looking through it, but short enough that if I sat up straight I could see over it. The stock one now does not allow me to see over it due to the height. I just wondered if it being 4" shorter had any increased buffetting> talking about the clearview shield.

I got the 15" Clearview with the vent and love it. I look right ove r the top and get plenty of air with the vent open.

 

As for the buffeting, there is more and my wife noticed more but all she did was start using ear plugs and the rest of it doesn't bother her so I consider it something I'm willing to deal with.

As stated break dust build up on the rotors and pads causes the squeak. Cleaning with a good soapy wheel cleaner or even just washing the front breaks will stop the squealing .

1,Front brakes on mine dont squel,I think its because I use about 70% of my stopping by the front brake. 2 The shorter shield will give more buffeting on the passenger especially,I bought the XXtall Clearview w/a vent and even though I look thru it I get an amazing amount of air when I open the vent,also riding in the rain it sheds water better and you can use rainx on the CLEARVIEW shield and it reallly helps..now I dont mind riding if it rains

I got a 3" under Clearview with vent. The passenger gets a little more wind, so I got her a new hat. Symax 2. Now we're both happy campers.

I have the XXL Clearview, Tinted w/vent. The nice thing about the Clearview is you can use RainX on it., however I have found Spray Lemon Plegde works better. Anyway due to the design it sheds wetter so much better than the stock that I have no issues looking through.
