hillrider Posted August 1, 2008 #1 Posted August 1, 2008 Has anyone replaced their clutch housing ("I" basket)? If so, what did you use to hold the housing whilst loosening the nut??? Mine's an '05, and while it's covered by warranty, the local guy shows no interest in doing the work. I don't want anyone touching my bike who has no interest in it. I'd rather buy the housing and do it myself.
Steve S Posted August 1, 2008 #2 Posted August 1, 2008 There was a thread about changing the clutch basket out in the Tech Section. It may be in the same thread with the one about changing the clutch. When I upgraded the clutch in my Black Beast it looked like it was a simple matter to get the basket off. What I really wanted to say is this. If your local man doesn't want to fix it, find a dealer nearby that will. It is not that hard to change out and it is too much money to spend when Yamaha should be paying for it. Good luck
Condor Posted August 1, 2008 #3 Posted August 1, 2008 When I pulled my basket the first time I used an air/impact. Spun the nut right off. Put it back on while holding the basket rim with a towel and torqued it to specs.
