MickO Posted July 29, 2008 #1 Posted July 29, 2008 Is anyone using the Russel Seat (Saddle)? If so, how do you like it? Have you used any other aftermarket seats that you can compare it with? Thanks for your comments. MickO
Squidley Posted July 30, 2008 #2 Posted July 30, 2008 Mick, I haven't used one but I have talked with quite a few folks that have and I haven't heard anything terrible about them. They are custom fitted to you and even though they look a bit different, they seem to keep their owners happy
pegscraper Posted July 30, 2008 #3 Posted July 30, 2008 I haven't used them myself either. But I know a BMW rider who won't use anything else. He's had them on the past two bikes he's owned, plus his current one. He just automatically gets one when he gets a new bike. I've sat on it for a bit, but haven't ridden his bike. Just sitting on it I can't really tell anything. I'd need to ride it for a couple hours to have any real thoughts.
Lone Eagle Posted July 30, 2008 #4 Posted July 30, 2008 I have a member in our chapter that has one on his Royal Tour Deluxe - he purchased that Royal from a mutual friend of ours. Meaning, that the seat was custom fitted/made for the original owner - however we are all "about" the same height, weight etc. I used the Russell seat for two weeks. I will say the seat is comfortable, what I didn't like was having to "climb" way forward towards the tank for stopping, whether at stop signs/traffic, whatever. I understand that that is normal for anyone with those seats and that you get used to it. I have a Rick Meyer seat on my bike - 200% more comfortable than the stock seat - but not quite the "barcolounger" and deeper cut that I am still searching for. Like Squid said, though, I know several people who have and swear by the Russell seats, just know that in stop and go traffic, it will take some getting used to.
