2007 RSV - Lowering KIT?

Hi Everyone, Just got my 07 RSV....I think I might feel a bit more comfortable if the bike was lowered. Is it expensive to lower it?

Any opinions good or bad about lowering the bike?

Understand in what you are saying. Everyone here that I have talked to use leveling link to raise to back end. I have just put them on myself and have a completely different bike. Now, Rosebud had lowered his front end and had not had any problems with it. You may what to look at his post on lowering it. Of course he only lowered it 3/4 inch just like use that have raise to rear of the bike. I was going to lowerer the front but just went with the leveling link.

Barons makes a lowering kit for the rear. it drops the back of the bike

1 1/2 inches. I put one on my bike last year and am very happy with it.

Depending on your reasoning for lowering the bike, there may be another option. When I got my '06, I wasn't quite comfortable flat-footing the bike (I'm 5' 7" on a good day).

 

So, instead of changing the physical set up of the bike, what I did was to have an inch of the foam taken from each side of the driver's seat. It helped give me a better angle (the stock pillow seat is quite wide), and now I can flat-foot the bike without a problem.

 

It was inexpensive (I think I paid CDN$100), and it was very well done (nobody can tell that it has been narrowed), and it did the trick for me.

Hi Paul. New bike looks great. Watch out for those bears this time.

I put the Barons lowering kit on our 05 a couple of years ago. Go to their site and you can get the price and specs.

Having said that, I removed it this past winter and like BluesLover, I had my seat cut down on each side and coincidentally I payed $100 Cdn too. Also added an extra insole in my boots. Together it has made up the difference for me and I'm pleased with the bikes handling. One reason why I took the lowering kit off was because I was constantly dragging my pipes.

I noticed your nice looking turndown pipes and my first thought was, if you put the lowering kit on, you're going to beat them up pretty badly.

I'd try to hang in there and see if you can deal with it once you've got used to the bike.

I put the Baron's lowering kit on my 03, before I did I dreaded coming to a stop. I was on my tip toes and if I let the bike get off balance over she went. For me the bike handles much better with the lowering kit on it. The only draw back is it is very easy to drag the pipes especially 2 up. If you are short legged you should see an improvement.

Thanks for the info. I guess I just need to get used to it. I sort of thought

by lowering it, it would make it a little less top heavy....at least lowering

the centre of gravity.

I'm 5'10", and was uncomfortable on my 99, especially coming to stops and backing into a parking spot. I installed the Baron's lowering kit, and lowered the front end 1" by raising the forks. What a difference! I can flat foot when stopped, and backing in a parking spot is so much easier. I have the Road King mufflers on the bike, and will drag them occasionaly, but the comfort from lowering the bike more than makes up for an occasional scrape!
