jkt69 Posted July 29, 2008 #1 Posted July 29, 2008 Vance & Hines or Bubs? I rode yamahamer's this weekend and he has Bubs, so I know what those sound like. I have only heard Vance & Hines on YouTube, but they sounded pretty sweet too. What do you think?
Tom Posted July 29, 2008 #2 Posted July 29, 2008 I run Krome werks I like them,I think they are a little less loud than Bubs but its a toss up..They have different tips also,Here is a pic of mine, you can turn them down or sideways.
davecb Posted July 30, 2008 #3 Posted July 30, 2008 I love the sound of the Vance and Hines on youtube. I just can't figure out which model they are. I sent a message to the guy, but I have'nt got an answer yet. Guess I'll have to go to a Harley dealer and try to figure out what they are...
Yammer Dan Posted July 30, 2008 #4 Posted July 30, 2008 On a 1st gen and it is same engine, Jardines sound GREAT!!
Christo Posted July 30, 2008 #5 Posted July 30, 2008 A Buddy of mine has the Barons on his, nice full sound, won't deafen you on those long rides, and when you throttle hard, they bark perfectly. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/369/index.html I have the HD RK's, ready to move to phase 2.
AmnChode Posted July 30, 2008 #6 Posted July 30, 2008 Personally I like Baron's...I have a set of 4-2-4s on mine...here is vid of mine via youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= for the youtube deprived, direct link of mp4 vid: Clicky, clicky I'll be honest...I just wanted to play with my new camera...hehehe:cool10:

Seems they make it for every model except the Venture.

yamahamer Posted July 31, 2008 #11 Posted July 31, 2008 Don't worry saturday you can hear alot of ventures and make a choice then.
WIKD Posted August 1, 2008 #12 Posted August 1, 2008 The V&H were probably a replacement for the Harley Road King. If stockers will work so will replacements. I run the Barons with the baffles wrapped. Sounds great to me. Louder and deeper than the RK's fully done up but not obnoxous.
kansan29 Posted August 1, 2008 #13 Posted August 1, 2008 I have read that the BUB exhaust will work without rejetting. Is this true of all slip-ons? BUB is currently on backorder until September and I don't want to wait that long. Any help appreciated.
Guest Boomerbiker Posted August 1, 2008 #14 Posted August 1, 2008 I am looking for a pair of stock 2nd gen pipes if someone wants to part with them for a fair price. A curb jumped out when leaving a Wyoming gas station and dinged the right one.
juggler Posted August 1, 2008 #15 Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) This year I took off my BUB's slip ons and went back to stock. Now I am enjoying the peace and quiet while riding. Edited August 2, 2008 by juggler
Christo Posted August 1, 2008 #16 Posted August 1, 2008 I have a set from a 1999 RST - Pristine Condition - what do you feel is a fair price? New they are: $307 each side.

A curb jumped out when leaving a Wyoming gas station and dinged the right one. I have a pair of brand new Road King pipes, they were never run on a bike. $50 bucks if you are interested, thats what I paid for em. Let me know. Craig
Tour Deluxe Posted August 1, 2008 #18 Posted August 1, 2008 I was just given a set of Bubs. I removed end caps and pulled the baffle out, repacked the baffle with new fiberglass insulation. Sounds great, the only time you really hear them is when your on the throttle. I put these on my RSTD. Also have a RSV which I just put a set of Road House Slash cuts on. They are louder than the Bubs, put still not anoying. EXHAUST CHOICES (that I am aware of) BUBS (Sleepers or Complete System) Road House (Slash or Fish Tall) Khrome Werks (Slash, Turn Down/Out) Barons (Multiple Options) Harley Road King Muffler Conversion (Special Bracket Required) Samsons I think thats it.
jkt69 Posted August 1, 2008 Author #19 Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) Most interested in some bass rumble, not anything obnoxious loud. Which of these are the least loud? BUBS (Sleepers or Complete System) Road House (Slash or Fish Tall) Khrome Werks (Slash, Turn Down/Out) Barons (Multiple Options) Harley Road King Muffler Conversion (Special Bracket Required) Samsons **Can not find Road House for the Venture. Seems every Yamaha model out, not the Venture though. Edited August 1, 2008 by jkt69
2WHEELSFORME Posted August 1, 2008 #20 Posted August 1, 2008 I think the Road Kings would be the least loud. They are hardly lounder that the stock pipes unless you drill them and still not loud at all.
jkt69 Posted August 8, 2008 Author #21 Posted August 8, 2008 After much research and youtube listening I finally ordered my exhaust slip ons yesterday. I went with the Roadhouse MotoClassic. To me they sounded like exactly what I was looking for...a nice bass rumble and some noise when you get on it. Can't wait for them to get here. I pulled up behind Yamahamer at a stop light and he told me it sounded like a pissed off sewing machine was coming up behind him. If anyone has these pipes I hope you have some good things to say about them. Thanks again.
rsstar Posted August 8, 2008 #22 Posted August 8, 2008 Boomerbike, I have two sets; one off a 99 and the other off my 06. You can have either set for packing and shipping charges. Send me a pm. I am sending you one in addition to this.
